EPIGENETIC REGULATION OF NEUROGENESIS IN NON-DEMENTED HUMANS WITH ALZHEIMER’S DISEASE NEUROPATHOLOGY

This project was designed to investigate the role of neurogenesis and its epigenetic regulation by microRNA in the preservation of cognition against Alzheimer’s disease. This was accomplished by comparing by immunohistochemistry the capacity for neurogenesis in the subgranular zone of the hippocampus in 4 distinct populations of human subject’s tissue representing the full disease, intermediate cognitive decline, healthy controls, and a poorly characterized group who have all of the histopathological hallmarks of the full disease but are cognitively normal. To investigate the microRNAs of interest in the correct context, as microRNA expression can vary significantly by region, the granular …

Gain lifetime measurement of a Ni-like Ag soft X-ray laser

2012

International audience; Experimental results of a two-stage Ni-like Ag soft X-ray laser operated in a seed-amplifier configuration are presented. Both targets were pumped applying the double-pulse grazing incidence technique with intrinsic travelling wave excitation. The injection of the seed X-ray laser into the amplifier target was realized by a spherical mirror. The results show amplification of the seed X-ray laser and allow for a direct measurement of the gain lifetime. The experimental configuration is suitable for providing valuable input for computational simulations. (C) 2012 Optical Society of America

Resveratrol modulates the levels of microRNAs targeting genes encoding tumor-suppressors and effectors of TGFbeta signaling pathway in SW480 cells.

2010

International audience; Resveratrol (trans-3,4',5-trihydroxystilbene) is a natural antioxidant with cardiovascular and cancer preventive properties that is currently at the stage of pre-clinical studies for human cancer prevention. Beside its known effects on protein coding genes, one possible mechanism for resveratrol protective activities is by modulating the levels of non-coding RNAs. Here, we analyzed the effects of resveratrol on microRNA populations in human SW480 colon cancer cells. We establish that resveratrol treatment decreases the levels of several oncogenic microRNAs targeting genes encoding Dicer1, a cytoplasmic RNase III producing mature microRNAs from their immediate precurs…

Classification of European bog vegetation of the Oxycocco-Sphagnetea class

2022

Aims: Classification of European bog vegetation (Oxycocco-Sphagnetea class); identification of diagnostic species for the class and vegetation subgroups (orders and alliances); development of an expert system for automatic classification of vegetation plots; and production of distribution maps of the Oxycocco-Sphagnetea class and its alliances. Location: Europe. Methods: A data set of vegetation-plot records was compiled to include various bog types over most of the European continent. An unsupervised classification (beta-flexible linkage method, Sørensen distance measure) and detrended correspondence analysis (DCA) ordination were applied. Formal definitions of syntaxa based on species pre…

Different modulatory effect of the synthetic cannabinoid WIN55,212-2 on tumor cell migration.

2015

MicroRNAs are small non-coding regulatory molecules exerting pleiotropic action in different biological processes such as proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis, migration and metastasis. Deregulation of miRNA expression has been observed in various cancers, and accumulating data suggest that miRNAs can display an oncogenic, antioncogenic or an ambiguous behavior in relationship to tumor environment. In a previous research we showed that the synthetic cannabinoid WIN55,212-2 is able to reduce the migratory activity of osteosarcoma MG63 cells analyzed by means of wound healing assay. So we undertook a study to evaluate the biochemical mechanism through which WIN plays this action. To this…

Exosomal shuttling of miR-126 in endothelial cells modulates adhesive and migratory abilities of chronic myelogenous leukemia cells.

2014

BACKGROUND: Recent findings indicate that exosomes released from cancer cells contain microRNAs (miRNAs) that may be delivered to cells of tumor microenvironment. RESULTS: To elucidate whether miRNAs secreted from chronic myelogenous leukemia cells (CML) are shuttled into endothelial cells thus affecting their phenotype, we first analysed miRNAs content in LAMA84 exosomes. Among the 124 miRNAs identified in LAMA84 exosomes, we focused our attention on miR-126 which was found to be over-overexpressed in exosomes compared with producing parental cells. Transfection of LAMA84 with Cy3-labelled miR-126 and co-culture of leukemia cells with endothelial cells (EC) confirmed that miR-126 is shuttl…

Newly-Discovered Neural Features Expand the Pathobiological Knowledge of Blastic Plasmacytoid Dendritic Cell Neoplasm

2021

Simple Summary For the first time, neuronal features are described in blastic plasmacytoid dendritic cell neoplasm (BPDCN) by a complex array of molecular techniques, including microRNA and gene expression profiling, RNA and Chromatin immunoprecipitation sequencing, and immunohistochemistry. The discovery of unexpected neural features in BPDCN may change our vision of this disease, leading to the designing of a new BPDCN cell model and to re-thinking the relations occurring between BPDCN and nervous system. The observed findings contribute to explaining the extreme tumor aggressiveness and also to propose novel therapeutic targets. In view of this, the identification, in this work of new po…
