Catalytic materials obtained by enzyme immobilization have multiple potential applications in the food industry. The choice of the immobilization method and support may be critical to define the properties of the immobilized enzyme compared to the soluble form. Although the use of immobilized enzymes shows multiple advantages, their catalytic efficiency is compromised in many instances. A parallel purely refractive 4/spl times/4 optical data link has been built. The design is based on pairs of crossed cylindrical microlenses. The optical module is fabricated and monolithically integrated in. polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) by the LIGA technique.

Peiffer product and peiffer commutator for internal pre-crossed modules

In this work we introduce the notions of Peiffer product and Peiffer commutator of internal pre-crossed modules over a fixed object B, extending the corresponding classical notions to any semi-abelian category C. We prove that, under mild additional assumptions on C, crossed modules are characterized as those pre-crossed modules X whose Peiffer commutator 〈X, X〉 is trivial. Furthermore we provide suitable conditions on C (fulfilled by a large class of algebraic varieties, including among others groups, associative algebras, Lie and Leibniz algebras) under which the Peiffer product realizes the coproduct in the category of crossed modules over B.

Abstract The operation and test of mock-ups of tritium breeding blankets relevant for a future commercial reactor is one of the goals of the ITER machine. To accomplish this goal, mock-ups of breeding blankets, called Test Blanket Modules (TBMs), are installed in three ITER equatorial ports. Each TBM and the associated shield form a TBM-set that is mechanically attached to a steel frame called TBM Frame. A Frame and two TBM-Sets form a TBM Port Plug (TBM PP). The ITER Organization is responsible for the design and manufacture of the TBM Frames and of the Dummy TBMs that could replace the TBM-sets in case they were not available.
