NUOVE FRONTIERE MUSEOGRAFICHE : immaterialità e multimedialità del museo narrativo

2021

The interpretation of prehistoric visual expression in indoor museums

2011

Representing Prehistory in museums, with all the contradictions that the term “representation” may imply, is always very controversial from the interpretative point of view, implicating a series of different philosophical and scientific positions, both on Prehistory itself, and on the way of introducing it to the public, particularly today with the resurfacing of the need to dedicate some attention also to the social and the so-called “immaterial” contexts, to the myths, the rites, the cults, to the interpretation of life and nature, overcoming the obsolete concept of the museums exposing manufactured articles. In the long decontestualization process of the objects involving, unfortunately,…

2022

The contribution presented here is part of a work-in-progress project, which has as its focus the “extra-moenia” urban transformations suffered by the city of Palermo after World War II, with the aim of cataloging, reconstructing and restoring the remarkable heritage -lost in the years of the economic boom and building speculation- in three-dimensional virtual images. The analysis is part of the urban context affected by the extension of via Libertà starting from the intersection with via Notarbartolo, the transversal directional axis conceived in the Giarrusso Plan of 1887 as a connection to the Shipyards and built starting from the subdivisions of Villa Carini in the years 1891-1902. Cities inside the City on River Amstel

2017

Risk indexes evaluation in view of a new showcase designing of “L’Annunciata” by Antonello da Messina

2018

Museums are often hosted by heritage buildings, where the indoor thermal conditions are usually subjected to a free-floating regime, due to the difficulty of equipping them with HVAC systems that, generally, are highly impacting tools from a visual point of view. These technological tools, in fact, could conflict with the established arrangement of the works of art. This would represent a problem, since the indoor physical conditions of these premises must fall within the ranges of values suitable to ensure the safety of the works of art there exhibited. In addition, the increasing time spent by visitors inside museums (now offering various possibilities of leisure, ranging from the book sh…

Torre del Greco, villa marittima in contrada Sora: 65. Statua di Satiro

2019

2018

The paper considers the monumental crater of the Niobid Painter found in Gela in 1889 and preserved in the Archaeological Museum of Agrigento. It depicts an Amazonomachy all round its body, the myth of Herakles and Pholos along with a Centauromachy on the two sides of its neck. The first part of the contribution traces the history of the vase from its discovery to the musealization; the symbolical meaning taken up by this object and this type of precious vases in the post-united Sicily is reconstructed. In the second part of the paper, the crater (a cinerarium) with its images are analyzed in their ancient context of use. This study is an attempt to reconstruct the physiognomy of the Geloan…
