Orientation Adaptive Minimal Learning Machine for Directions of Atomic Forces
2021
Machine learning (ML) force fields are one of the most common applications of ML in nanoscience. However, commonly these methods are trained on potential energies of atomic systems and force vectors are omitted. Here we present a ML framework, which tackles the greatest difficulty on using forces in ML: accurate prediction of force direction. We use the idea of Minimal Learning Machine to device a method which can adapt to the orientation of an atomic environment to estimate the directions of force vectors. The method was tested with linear alkane molecules. peerReviewed
Data Mining for the Security of Cyber Physical Systems Using Deep-Learning Methods
2022
Cyber Physical Systems (CPSs) have become widely popular in recent years, and their applicability have been growing exponentially. A CPS is an advanced system that incorporates a computation unit along with a hardware unit, allowing for computing processes to interact with the physical world. However, this increased usage has also led to the security concerns in them, as they allow potential attack vendors to exploit the possibilities of committing misconduct for their own benefit. It is of paramount importance that these systems have comprehensive security mechanisms to mitigate these security threats. A typical attack vector for a CPS is malicious data supplied by compromised sensors that…
Blockchain Disrupting Fintech and the Banking System
2021
Nowadays society is profoundly changed by technology, velocity and productivity. While individuals are not yet prepared for holographic connection with banks or financial institutions, other innovative technologies have been adopted. Lately, a new world has been launched, personalized and adapted to reality. It has emerged and started to govern almost all daily activities due to the five key elements that are foundations of the technology: machine to machine (M2M), internet of things (IoT), big data, machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI). Competitive innovations are now on the market, helping with the connection between investors and borrowers—notably crowdfunding and peer-to-pe…
Assessment Of Driving Stress Through SVM And KNN Classifiers On Multi-Domain Physiological Data
2022
We propose an objective stress assessment method based on the extraction of features from physiological time series and their classification using Support Vector Machine and K-Nearest Neighbors algorithms. For this purpose, we used an open dataset consisting of multiparametric physiological signals (electrocardiogram, electromyogram, galvanic skin response and breath signal) obtained during the execution of a driving route within the city of Boston with restful, highway and city driving periods indicative of three different stress states. To predict the driver stress level, 21 features were extracted from 122 chunks of raw signals and were subsequently managed by classification algorithms. …

Classification of persimmon fruit origin by near infrared spectrometry and least squares-support vector machines
2014
Abstract The main objective of this work has been the authentication by Fourier transform near infrared (FT-NIR) spectrometry of the origin of persimmon fruits cultivated in different regions of Spain. In order to achieve this goal, 166 persimmon samples from 7 different regions of Spain were analyzed by FT-NIR spectrometry. By splitting the spectral data in training and independent test sets, a classification model was built using least squares support vector machines chemometric technique. Orthogonal signal correction and principal component analysis were performed prior to conduct the classification strategy. The verified model was applied for the prediction of the origin of 50 samples f…
Fuzzy sigmoid kernel for support vector classifiers
2004
This Letter proposes the use of the fuzzy sigmoid function presented in (IEEE Trans. Neural Networks 14(6) (2003) 1576) as non-positive semi-definite kernel in the support vector machines framework. The fuzzy sigmoid kernel allows lower computational cost, and higher rate of positive eigenvalues of the kernel matrix, which alleviates current limitations of the sigmoid kernel.
WiHAR : From Wi-Fi Channel State Information to Unobtrusive Human Activity Recognition
2020
A robust and unobtrusive human activity recognition system is essential to a multitude of applications, such as health care, active assisted living, robotics, sports, and tele-immersion. Existing well-performing activity recognition methods are either vision- or wearable sensor-based. However, they are not fully passive. In this paper, we develop WiHAR—an unobtrusive Wi-Fi-based activity recognition system. WiHAR uses the Wi-Fi network interface card to capture the channel state information (CSI) data. These CSI data are effectively processed, and then amplitude and phase information is used to obtain the spectrogram. In the subsequent step, the time-variant mean Doppler shift (MDS) caused …
Using Attribute Grammars for Description of Inductive Inference Search Space
1998
The problem of practically feasible inductive inference of functions or other objects that can be described by means of an attribute grammar is studied in this paper. In our approach based on attribute grammars various kinds of knowledge about the object to be found can be encoded, ranging from usual input/output examples to assumptions about unknown object's syntactic structure to some dynamic object's properties. We present theoretical results as well as describe the architecture of a practical inductive synthesis system based on theoretical findings.
