Fault diagnosis with Coloured Petri Nets using Latent Nestling Method

This paper presents a new methodology for permanent and intermittent fault diagnosis, named Faults Latent Nestling Method (FLNM), using Coloured Petri Nets (CPNs). CPNs and FLNM method allow for an enhanced capability for synthesis and modelling in contrast to the classical phenomena of combinational state explosion when using Finite State Machine based methods.

Abstract Pedestrian simulation is complex because there are different levels of behavior modeling. At the lowest level, local interactions between agents occur; at the middle level, strategic and tactical behaviors appear like overtakings or route choices; and at the highest level path-planning is necessary. Vibration signature analysis for monitoring rotor broken bar in double squirrel cage induction motors based on wavelet analysis

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to present a diagnosis technique, for rotor broken bar in double cage induction motor, based on advanced use of wavelet transform analysis. The proposed technique is experimentally validated. Design/methodology/approach – The proposed approach is based on a combined use of frequency sliding and wavelet transform analysis, to isolate the contribution of the rotor fault components issued from vibration signals in a single frequency band. However, data analysis procedures should satisfy the high accuracy levels demanded by users (public or private companies and governments) in order to be extensively used. This paper presents a multi-stage classification scheme to update the citrus Geographical Information System (GIS) of the Comunidad Valenciana region (Spain). Leakage-detection in blade pitch control systems for wind turbines

The main contribution of the work is a systematic study evaluating the performance of different filters for leakage detection in pitch control systems. The effectiveness of the proposed methods is examined in a Matlab/Simulink real-time environment. The test bed consists of the following elements: hydraulic power unit, servo valve, two leakage bypasses, hydraulic cylinder, payload and xPC-based control system. Electrostatic synchronous generator model of an Inverter-Based Distributed Generators

In this paper, the idea of modelling the Inverter-Based Distributed Generators by using the concept of Electrostatic synchronous machines is discussed. A mathematical model of the inverter has been established which depends on the dc bus voltage, modulation index and frequency of the system. Two mathematical models have been developed: a small signal model and a steady-state model. These mathematical models will be helpful in studying the stability of a microgrid; especially when studying the transient stability performance of on-grid operation of converter-based distributed generator with multi-machine microgrid. Simulation results using Matlab/Simulink are carried out.

A polynomial algorithm solving a special class of hybrid optimal control problems

Hybrid optimal control problems are, in general, difficult to solve. A current research goal is to isolate those problems that lead to tractable solutions [5]. In this paper, we identify a special class of hybrid optimal control problems which are easy to solve. We do this by using a paradigm borrowed from the Operations Research field. As main result, we present a solution algorithm that converges to the exact solution in polynomial time. Our approach consists in approximating the hybrid optimal control problem via an integer-linear programming reformulation. Abstract The heat conduction problems for anisotropic bodies are studied taking into account the uncertainties in the material orientation. The best estimations of the upper and lower bounds of the considered energy dissipation functional are based on developing new approach consisting in solution of some optimization problems and finding the extremal internal material structures, which realize minimal and maximal dissipation. Mathematical modelling of an inverter-based distributed generator

In this paper, a modeling approach of a three phase power inverter based on an electrostatic synchronous machine is presented. By the proposed approach, any inverter-based distributed generator in a microgrid can be replaced by an equivalent electrostatic machine. This paper aims to promote the use of the proposed modeling approach in the analysis of microgrid stability. Thanks to the proposed modeling approach, transient performances of on-grid operation of converter-based distributed generators could be easily analyzed by multi-machine models.
