Vineyard design supported by GPS application

2021

The innovative technologies of precision agriculture offer nowadays new applications in line with the needs of the wine sector. In hillside viticulture, within the same plot there are areas with different physical and chemical characteristics (lying, pH, active limestone, nutrients, etc.). This variability consequently influences the vigor of the vine which translates into a different production per single plant in terms of both yield and quality of the grapes. The aim of this study was to realize geo-referenced thematic maps by GPS application on a hilly plot covering about 6 hectares to be planted in a hedgerow trained vineyard for the production of quality grapes. The experimental tests …

Spatio-Temporal Saliency Detection in Dynamic Scenes using Local Binary Patterns

2014

International audience; Visual saliency detection is an important step in many computer vision applications, since it reduces further processing steps to regions of interest. Saliency detection in still images is a well-studied topic. However, videos scenes contain more information than static images, and this additional temporal information is an important aspect of human perception. Therefore, it is necessary to include motion information in order to obtain spatio-temporal saliency map for a dynamic scene. In this paper, we introduce a new spatio-temporal saliency detection method for dynamic scenes based on dynamic textures computed with local binary patterns. In particular, we extract l…

Integration of multiple range and intensity image pairs using a volumetric method to create textured three-dimensional models

2001

We present a volumetric approach to three-dimensional (3D) object modeling that differs from previous techniques in that both object texture and geometry are considered in the reconstruc- tion process. The motivation for the research is the simulation of a thermal tire inspection station. Integrating 3D geometry information with two-dimensional thermal images permits the thermal informa- tion to be displayed as a texture map on the tire structure, enhanc- ing analysis capabilities. Additionally, constructing the tire geometry during the inspection process allows the tire to be examined for structural defects that might be missed if the thermal data were textured onto a predefined model. Exp…

Towards interpretable classifiers with blind signal separation

2012

Blind signal separation (BSS) is a powerful tool to open-up complex signals into component sources that are often interpretable. However, BSS methods are generally unsupervised, therefore the assignment of class membership from the elements of the mixing matrix may be sub-optimal. This paper proposes a three-stage approach using Fisher information metric to define a natural metric for the data, from which a Euclidean approximation can then be used to drive BSS. Results with synthetic data models of real-world high-dimensional data show that the classification accuracy of the method is good for challenging problems, while retaining interpretability.

Lesions to the posterior insular cortex cause dysarthria

2011

Background:  Up to now, there are few systematic studies in a sufficient number of patients with lesions involving the insular cortex (IC) examining whether damage of the IC is directly related to dysarthria. Thus, this is the first study applying modern voxel-lesion behaviour mapping (VLBM) aimed to examine whether the IC is involved in dysarthria – and if so – which part of the IC is involved. Methods:  Twenty-five patients with acute stroke lesions affecting the IC and peri-insular region were investigated employing VLBM analysis. Results:  Present data indicated that dysarthria is associated with stroke lesions affecting the right- and left-sided posterior IC. Conclusions:  Owing to the…

Georeferenced cartography dataset of the La Fossa crater fumarolic field at Vulcano Island (Aeolian Archipelago, Italy): conversion and comparison of…

2011

The present study illustrates the procedures applied for the coordinate system conversion of the historical fumarole positions at La Fossa crater, to allow their comparison with newly acquired global positioning system (GPS) data. Due to the absence of ground control points in the field and on both the old Gauss Boaga and the new UTM WGS 1984 maps, we had to model the transformation errors between the two systems using differential GPS techniques. Once corrected, the maps show a residual Easting shifting, due to erroneous georeferencing of the original base maps; this is corrected by morphological comparative methods. The good correspondence between the corrected positions of the historical…

Effects of passive and active modified atmosphere packaging conditions on quality parameters of minimally processed table grapes during cold storage

2015

BACKGROUND: Table grape is a non-climacteric berry, sensitive to water loss and gray mold during postharvest storage. OBJECTIVE: To assess the effect of passive and active modified atmosphere packaging on quality parameters of minimally processed table grapes. METHODS: 'Red Globe' minimally processed table grapes were dipped in a sodium hypochlorite solution and irradiated with ultraviolet-C, before being packaged in a rigid polypropylene boxes, sealed with a micro perforated polypropylene film (PP) or a continuous polyethylene film, with: a) 5% O2 + 15% CO2 + 80% N (PET1); b) 20% CO2 + air (PET2). Samples were stored at 5°C for 21 days plus and additional 6-day period at 20°C to simulate s…

Response to Anti CD20 Monoclonal Antibody Rituximab® and Epitope Mapping of Inhibitory Antibodies in Patients with Acquired Haemophilia.

2006

Abstract Introduction: Acquired haemophilia (AcH) is associated with the development of polyclonal autoantibodies against FVIII, which affect directly the A2 or C2 domain of the FVIII molecule. Immunomodulatory therapy regimes to normalize FVIII levels and to eliminate the inhibitor are essential options in the treatment of patients (pts) with AcH. The aims of the present study were to investigate the response to Rituximab® and to localize the inhibitor epitopes on the FVIII domains. Patients and Methods: In 5 pts with AcH (2 females,3 males; age: 64–81 yrs) the inhibitor titers ranged from 9 to 156 BU and the FVIII activities from <1 % to 6 %. Rituximab® was administered once weekly…

Robust technique for 3D shape reconstruction

2017

Abstract In this paper a robust and simple scheme is presented for three dimensional (3D) shape reconstruction of real object. A novel composite pattern technique is proposed for projecting the light pattern on the object of interest. The proposed scheme reduces the number of patterns by combining the primary color coded channels into one composite format. Our approach uses both spatial and temporal intensity variation for calibration and construction phase. Gamma calibration is considered with the propose scheme. High quality depth map is obtained from the linear light reflected by the shape of object without complex calculations. Experimental results demonstrated that proposed technique i…
