Il contributo si occupa di ricostruire, attraversi documenti finora mai pubblicati, le vicende realizzative relative all'inedito altare maggiore della chiesa delle Anime Sante a Valletta (Malta), opera dei maestri marmorari messinesi Antonino e Francesco Amato e aiuti degli anni 1743-1747. The essay, through documents never before published, speaks of the events related to the construction of the main altar of the church of the Holy Souls in Valletta (Malta). It is a work of the marble workers Antonino and Francesco Amato and aid from Messina made in the years 1743-1747.

In this chapter we give a brief overview of neutron based analytical investigations applied to study archaeological ceramics, and different types of stones. Since the vast majority of archaeological objects are made of ceramics and various stones—all are of geological origin—, one of the key objectives of these studies to determine the origin of raw material. This research is called provenance research, and a wide range of neutron based methods are applicable in it. This multidisciplinary research focuses on diagnostic investigations to characterize the archaeological materials, as well as the alteration and degradation forms detected at the Roman Thermae of Reggio Calabria (Calabria, South Italy) site. The thermal complex, (dating I–II century B.C.), was built around three main rooms such as the caldarium (hot bath), the tepidarium (warm bath) and the frigidarium (cold bath), all connected to a central room through several entrances. This work deals with the application of the Ammonium Hydrogen Phosphate as preservative and consolidant during the restoration and consolidation intervention on a twin columns group in the east side of the Santa Maria La Nova Cloister in Monreale, UNESCO Heritage from 2016. Marble is a very common material in artworks for its softness, relative isotropy and homogeneity and its characteristic waxy look that gives "life" to sculptures. Even if in geology the term "marble" refers to metamorphosed limestone, commonly the term ‘marble’ is used more broadly encompassing hard unmetamorphosed limestone that can be polished assuming a glossy aspect. In the restoration field when marble artworks have cracks that alter the smoothness of their surface, a putty is used to fill them, for both aesthetic and conservative reasons.
