Greedy versus Dynamic Channel Aggregation Strategy in CRNs: Markov Models and Performance Evaluation

Part 1: - PE-CRN 2011 Workshop; International audience; In cognitive radio networks, channel aggregation techniques which aggregate several channels together as one channel have been proposed in many MAC protocols. In this paper, we consider elastic data traffic and spectrum adaptation for channel aggregation, and propose two new strategies named as Greedy and Dynamic respectively. The performance of channel aggregation represented by these strategies is evaluated using continuous time Markov chain models. Moreover, simulation results based on various traffic distributions are utilized in order to evaluate the validity and preciseness of the mathematical models.

This paper investigates the problem of model reduction for a class of continuous-time Markovian jump linear systems with incomplete statistics of mode information, which simultaneously considers the exactly known, partially unknown and uncertain transition rates. By fully utilising the properties of transition rate matrices, together with the convexification of uncertain domains, a new sufficient condition for performance analysis is first derived, and then two approaches, namely, the convex linearisation approach and the iterative approach, are developed to solve the model reduction problem. Learning From Errors: Detecting Cross-Technology Interference in WiFi Networks

In this paper, we show that inter-technology interference can be recognized using commodity WiFi devices by monitoring the statistics of receiver errors. Indeed, while for WiFi standard frames the error probability varies during the frame reception in different frame fields (PHY, MAC headers, and payloads) protected with heterogeneous coding, errors may appear randomly at any point during the time the demodulator is trying to receive an exogenous interfering signal. On the use of adaptive spatial weight matrices from disease mapping multivariate analyses

Conditional autoregressive distributions are commonly used to model spatial dependence between nearby geographic units in disease mapping studies. These distributions induce spatial dependence by means of a spatial weights matrix that quantifies the strength of dependence between any two neighboring spatial units. The most common procedure for defining that spatial weights matrix is using an adjacency criterion. Entanglement control via reservoir engineering in ultracold atomic gases

We study the entanglement of two impurity qubits immersed in a Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) reservoir. This open quantum system is particularly interesting because the reservoir and system parameters are easily controllable and the reduced dynamics is highly non-Markovian. We show how the model allows for interpolation between a common dephasing scenario and an independent dephasing scenario by simply modifying the wavelength of the superlattice superposed to the BEC, and how this influences the dynamical properties of the impurities. This paper investigates a defect appearing in “Finite-time H∞ fuzzy control of nonlinear jump systems with time delays via dynamic observer-based state feedback,” which the observer-based finite-time H∞ controller via dynamic observer-based state feedback could not ensuring stochastic finite-time boundedness, and satisfying a prescribed level of H∞ disturbance attenuation for the resulting closed-loop error fuzzy Markov jump systems. The corrected results are presented, and the improved optimal algorithms and new simulation results are also provided in this paper.

Patterns of poverty among elderly Americans: a Latent Class Markov Model

ABSTRACTThis article studies poverty persistence and the role of social security programmes on poverty among elderly in the US. We use a Latent Markov model to disentangle unobserved heterogeneity and state dependence. Because of its dynamic nature, unobserved heterogeneity is modelled to vary over time. This allows to capture different latent states of poverty that change over time. Result indicates the existence of three unobserved types evolving over time according to their propensity to be poor.
