A Note on Qualitative Input-Output Analysis

International audience; The paper discusses qualitative input—output methods. It is shown that information is lost. Because the binaiy relationship constructed by qualitative methods is not transitive, the model lacks economic consistency. Qualitative methods are tending to become more sophisticated, but some problems of economic interpretation are raised.

Cette étude évalue la discrimination dans l’accès à l’emploi dans trois professions présentes à la fois dans le secteur privé et dans la Fonction Publique. Deux dimensions sont examinées : l’effet de la réputation du lieu de résidence et l’effet de l’origine maghrébine. Elle est réalisée sur données expérimentales de testing réalisé dans trois professions en tension pour lesquelles la discrimination devrait a priori être très réduite : les responsables administratifs de catégorie A, les techniciens de maintenance de catégorie B et les aides soignantes de catégorie C. Higher Education Institutions Quality and Graduate Wages in Tunisia

International audience; We estimate the effect of university characteristics on the return to higher education in Tunisia. We use a variety of administrative data from the Ministry of Higher Education and Research, the Ministry of Vocational Training and Employment and the National Social Security Fund. We consider econometric approaches based on multilevel modeling, which distinguishes more precisely between the effects of individual factors and institutional factors on earnings. Productivity analysis of Latvian companies using ORBIS database

International audience; This research study uses ORBIS microdata at the company level to analyse productivity of 167 thousand economically active Latvian companies over 2011-2018. The aim of the study is twofold-to find factors consistently associated with productivity at the company level; and to recommend possible criteria for companies to receive a state support (from the view of enhancing aggregate productivity in the long term). Our research results show that productivity of Latvian companies is positively related to their size, age, as well as location closer to Riga and other big cities. International audience; Biproportional methods are used to update matrices: the projection of a matrix Z to give it the column and row sums of another matrix is R Z S, where R and S are diagonal and secure the constraints of the problem (R and S have no signification at all because they are not identified). However, normalizing R or S generates important mathematical difficulties: it amounts to put constraints on Lagrange multipliers, non negativity (and so the existence of the solution) is not guaranteed at equilibrium or along the path to equilibrium.
