Blocks with 𝑝-power character degrees

2005

Let B B be a p p -block of a finite group G G . If χ ( 1 ) \chi (1) is a p p -power for all χ ∈ Irr ⁡ ( B ) \chi \in \operatorname {Irr}(B) , then B B is nilpotent.

Perron type integral on compact zero-dimensional Abelian groups

2008

Perron and Henstock type integrals defined directly on a compact zero-dimensional Abelian group are studied. It is proved that the considered Perron type integral defined by continuous majorants and minorants is equivalent to the integral defined in the same way, but without assumption on continuity of majorants and minorants.

A presentation and a representation of the Held group

1996

In this note we give a brief description of a new presentation of the Held group, which is deduced only from the original work of D. Held in 1969, who shows that a finite simple group, having the same centralizer of a 2-central involution as in the Mathieu group M24, is M24, L5(2) or a group of order 4.030.387.200. The first complete uniqueness proof for the latter case was given by L. Soicher in 1991. The generators and relations occurring here are easy to verify by a simple Todd–Coxeter algorithm. It is an easy task to get a new uniqueness and existence proof of the Held group from this result. Also basic facts like the Schur Multiplier or the automorphism group of the Held group follow f…

Nonlocalization Properties of Time Operators Transformations

2014

It is presented a general approach to the problem of extension of time operators and the associated Lambda transformations on singular measures. It is also shown that Lambda transformations defined on function spaces having the Urysohn property are non localized. Particular attention has been devoted to time and Lambda operators associated with the Walsh-Paley system and to a characterization of their domain and non locality.

An Integral Version of Ćirić’s Fixed Point Theorem

2011

We establish a new fixed point theorem for mappings satisfying a general contractive condition of integral type. The presented theorem generalizes the well known Ciric's fixed point theorem [Lj. B. Ciric, Generalized contractions and fixed point theorems, Publ. Inst. Math. 12 (26) (1971) 19-26]. Some examples and applications are given.

Star-products and phase space realizations of quantum groups

1992

It is shown for a family of *-products (i.e. different ordering rules) that, under a strong invariance condition, the functions of the quadratic preferred observables (which generate the Cartan subalgebra in phase space realization of Lie algebras) take only the linear or exponential form. An exception occurs for the case of a symmetric ordering *-product where trigonometric functions and two special polynomials can also be included. As an example, the ‘quantized algebra’ of the oscillator Lie algebra is argued.

Some Problems on Homomorphisms and Real Function Algebras

2001

In this paper we solve a problem about the representation of all homomorphisms on a real function algebra as point evaluations and another two about function algebras in which homomorphisms are point evaluations on sequences in the algebra.

Fuzzy algebras as a framework for fuzzy topology

2011

The paper introduces a variety-based version of the notion of the (L,M)-fuzzy topological space of Kubiak and Sostak and embeds the respective category into a suitable modification of the category of topological systems of Vickers. The new concepts provide a common framework for different approaches to fuzzy topology and topological systems existing in the literature, paving the way for studying the problem of interweaving algebra and topology in mathematics, which was raised by Denniston, Melton and Rodabaugh in their recent research on variable-basis topological systems over the category of locales.
