La «Saga di Eirik il Rosso» («Eiríks saga rauða») appartiene al gruppo delle “Family Sagas” ("Íslendinga sögur") dell’antica letteratura islandese. Essa si configura come un testo di straordinario interesse storico e antropologico perché contiene una delle più antiche narrazioni della penetrazione dei Vichinghi, prima in Groenlandia e poi nel Nuovo Continente (la cosiddetta Vinlandia), circa 500 anni prima della “scoperta” dell’America da parte di Cristoforo Colombo. Ścisły związek pomiędzy średniowiecznym rycerstwem a kulturą monastyczną najczęściej kojarzony jest z powstaniem zakonów rycerskich. Wpływ duchowości i religijności chrześcijańskiej na kształtowanie wizerunku doskonałego rycerza znajduje swoje w rozlicznych tekstach literackich, także tych, tworzonych do celów politycznych. Z takim przypadkiem mamy do czynienia w tekście Jana Długosza, opisującym starcie się wojsk na polach Grunwaldu w 1410 roku. The well-known Sonnet XIII by Garcilaso de la Vega «A Dafne ya los brazos le crecían» was to establish the disconsolate figure of Apollo, pining for the loss of Daphne, as the literary paradigm of the pangs of love —at least in Renaissance literature in the Iberian peninsula. Thus, a century later, Francesc Fontanella revisited the Garcilaso sonnet and carried out a profoundly Baroque re-reading.
