Method fragments for agent design methodologies: from standardisation to research
2007
The method engineering paradigm enables designers to reuse portions of design processes (called method fragments or chunks in literature) to build processes that are expressly tailored for realising a system that is specific for some problem or development context. This paper initially reports on the standardisation attempt carried out by the FIPA Methodology Technical Committee (TC) and then presents the research activities we did starting from that work; these resulted in a slightly different definition of some of the most important elements of the approach in order to support a multiview representation of the fragment (the views are process, reuse, storing and implementation). The paper …

Generation of Hardware/Software systems based on CAL dataflow description
2011
International audience; This paper presents a new development of rapid prototyping tools for system design based on data-flow specifications. In this context, the efficiency of tools for the automatic translation from the data-flow programs to C and/or HDL are assessed by means of two design cases. The paper also introduces the new concept of the automatic synthesis of interfaces. Such generic interfaces are implemented by using an embedded microprocessor, which can support a large variety of interfaces already available as native IP libraries in the case of FPGA. The two design cases described here have been developed, tested and validated on different implementation platforms. The results…
Some organizational changes from the incorporation of ICT. A study of cases in two centers of elementary education
2007
In this communication we try to show the conclusions of an investigation which aim was to analyse the changes experienced by the organization of the centers of primary with the progressive incorporation of the computer technologies. At the moment of introducing the above mentioned technologies tensions and confusion are generated but also innovation and change expectancy, of wich it follows finally a series of actions in the shape of modifications or variations in your organization. For it, we investigate in this study about questions as what role does play the commission of pedagogic coordination? What do the teams of teachers say in this process? What paper does the coordinator of compute…
Low intensity vs. self-guided Internet-delivered psychotherapy for major depression: A multicenter, controlled, randomized study
2013
Abstract Background Major depression will become the second most important cause of disability in 2020. Computerized cognitive-behaviour therapy could be an efficacious and cost-effective option for its treatment. No studies on cost-effectiveness of low intensity vs self-guided psychotherapy has been carried out. The aim of this study is to assess the efficacy of low intensity vs self-guided psychotherapy for major depression in the Spanish health system. Methods The study is made up of 3 phases: 1.- Development of a computerized cognitive-behaviour therapy for depression tailored to Spanish health system. 2.- Multicenter controlled, randomized study: A sample (N=450 patients) with mild/mod…
LEADING SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS TO FACE THE DISCIPLINARY, EPISTEMOLOGICAL AND SOCIETAL CHALLENGES OF CLIMATE CHANGE: DESIGN AND ANALYSIS OF MULTI-D…
The scientific community has been debating climate change (CC) for over two decades. In the light of certain arguments put forward by the aforesaid community, the EU has recommended a set of innovative reforms to science teaching, such as incorporating environmental issues into the scientific curriculum, thereby helping to make schools a place of civic education. However, despite these European recommendations, relatively little emphasis is still given to climate change within science curricula. The main goal of the research project described in this thesis is to study if, how and why the scientific contents related to CC could be reconstructed so as to integrate the many dimensions involve…
ARTIFICIAL STONE IN ARCHITECTURE: NEW TECHNIQUES OF INTERVENTION IN THE UTVEGGIO CASTLE IN PALERMO
2011
The development of new techniques and instruments for use in the field of the preservation, conservation and valorisation of Cultural Heritage is in continuous growth. This is evident in the many valuable scientific and technological improvements being implemented through projects financed by research institutions, universities and private companies. To make this renewed progress effective however, it is necessary to promote the creation of interdisciplinary research teams with different skills, to carry out new experiments and to define new methodologies and protocols.
Sine cura.

A Neuroeducation Analysis of Videogames
2016
The reflections contained in this research work deal with the educational challenge launched by Neuroeducation theory and the other cultural and social phenomenon of videogames, which have become more than pure forms of entertainment and fun, more and more metaphors of the big game of the reality of life. Many studies say that video game play is beginning to threaten traditional home entertainment choices (especially television), posing a very real threat to other media revenue streams. The reasons for video games growth in sales and popularity can be credited to the growth in the popularity and the technical innovations in the mobile sector. Attempting to support videogames for education a…
