Väitöstyössään Marjo-Riitta Reinikainen tutkii kriittisellä otteella tavanomaista arkista puhetta vammaisuudesta. Huomion kohteena ovat vammaisuudelle ja vammaisena olemiselle teksteissä annetut merkitykset, erityisesti näiden sukupuolittuneet sekä vammaisten sortoa ja syrjintää tuottavat ja ylläpitävät muodot. A recent expanded edition of the book Asterusher by Michele Mari (2015 and 2019) suggests some reflections on the completeness of autobiographical discourse. The composition of the autobiographical phototext, with a systematic tripartite form and inspired by the tradition of the emblem, is identical in the two versions. The addition of some pages has not changed the original structure of the volume but asks questions about the possibilities of revision and/or completion of an autobiographical narrative, about the possibilities of rewriting an autobiography in the form of a diary, almost like a “curriculum” with continuous updating.

Michel Foucault (1926-1984) is not really known as a thinker of music, or more generally, as a thinker of the voice, of the sound, of audition and listening. Often, one comes up with the portrait of Foucault as a visualist of some sort, one who either was not interested in the other sensory modalities, or at least, did not have much, if anything, to say about them. However, in this study I attempt to argue against this portrait. The aim is to bring to the fore the occurrence of the theme of the voice, sound and audition in various occasions and contexts, as we follow the course of Foucault’s intellectual history. When did biopolitics begin? : Actuality and potentiality in historical events

The article addresses the ongoing debate about the origins of biopolitics. While Foucault’s analysis of biopolitics approached it as a modern rationality of government, Agamben’s Homo Sacer series presented biopolitics as having a longer provenance, dating back to the antiquity. These polar positions are not mutually exclusive but coexist in these and other theories of biopolitics, which approach its object as both modern and ancient, having its chronological origin in the eighteenth to nineteenth centuries yet also possessing a prehistory of precursors. In questo articolo rispondo alle critiche e ai commenti alla mia ricostruzione della concezione del potere di Michel Foucault proposti da Bruno Celano, José Juan Moreso, Marco Segatti, Alessandro Spena. Mi concentro in particolare sui seguenti aspetti: la connessione fra la nozione foucaultiana di potere e il conflitto; la distinzione fra potere disciplinare, potere governamentale, e potere normativo; la concezione foucaultiana della libertà come autorialità; ciò che Foucault può suggerire riguardo ad alcune “macchie cieche” della teoria del diritto contemporanea.

Pro gradu -tutkielmani käsittelee Venäjän valtionjohdon esittämiä väestöpoliittisia kannanottoja vuosina 2000-2010. Tutkimusaihe on relevantti ensinnäkin ajankohtaisuutensa vuoksi, sillä tutkimuksen kattamina vuosina julkisesti kannettu huoli väestön tilasta eli alhaisesta syntyvyydestä yhdistettynä korkeaan kuolleisuuteen on kärjistynyt. Tänä aikana toteutettiin laajoja väestöpoliittisia toimenpiteitä tilanteen parantamiseksi. Toiseksi aiheen relevanssi johtuu sen moniulotteisuudesta, sillä se herättää mm. perhettä, sukupuolta, seksuaalisuutta, kansantaloutta ja kansan tulevaisuutta koskevia kysymyksiä.
