In vitro analysis of the phenotypical and functional properties of the 4F7+ cutaneous accessory dendritic cell

1995

The monoclonal antibody 4F7 detects a molecule on dermal and epidermal Ia+ dendritic cells (DCs), and some of these cells are Birbeck granule-containing cells. Here we report on the phenotypical and functional characteristics of these cells which were highly enriched by 4F7-labelled immunomagnetic beads. The ultrastructural, immunocytochemical and cytochemical analyses of these preparations showed cells with the typical characteristics of DCs. The cells were found to express the DC marker NLDC145, but not 33D1. The C3bi receptor and marker F4/80 were only expressed by epidermal 4F7+ cells. The capacity of freshly isolated 4F7+ epidermal and dermal DCs to activate allogeneic T cells in a mix…

Association between malocclusion and orofacial myofunctional disorders of pre‐school children in Latvia

2019

Objects Abnormal use of muscles of tongue and lips is called orofacial myofunctional disorders (OMD). In this study, we aimed to investigate the interrelation between occlusal findings and OMD in primary and mixed dentition and to find out the reasons for malocclusions, and the effect modification of these associations by the number of sources that parents used to receive the information on child oral health issues (NSI). Setting and sample population Cross-sectional study was performed in one kindergarten in Latvia (cluster sampling). The study sample comprised 141 children-mothers' pairs of pre-school children aged 4-7 years. Materials and methods Children' myofunctional situation, occlus…

A photoelectrochemical investigation of conversion coatings on Mg substrates

2005

Abstract The structure, morphology and composition of conversion coatings grown in stannate bath on pure Mg were studied using potential–time, polarization curves, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and photocurrent spectroscopy. The coating is manly constituted by crystalline magnesium–tin hydroxide, whose morphology and distribution depends on the conversion bath composition and temperature. The photoelectrochemical investigation allowed to estimate the band gap value of MgSn(OH) 6 and flat band potential. A sketch of the metal/passive film/electrolyte junction formed during conversion on the metal substrate is reported to account for the overall photoelectrochemical behaviou…

Advanced models for nonlocal magneto-electro-elastic multilayered plates based on Reissner mixed variational theorem

2019

In the present work, nonlocal layer-wise models for the analysis of magneto-electro-elastic multilayered plates are formulated. An Eringen non-local continuum behaviour is assumed for the layers material; in particular, as usual in plate theories, partial in-plane nonlocality is assumed whereas local constitutive behaviour is considered in the thickness direction. The proposed plate theories are obtained via the Reissner Mixed Variational Theorem, assuming the generalized displacements and generalized out-of-plane stresses as primary variables, and expressing them as through-the-thickness expansions of suitably selected functions, considering the expansion order as a free parameter. In the …

Selective propane oxidation over MoVSbO catalysts. On the preparation, characterization and catalytic behavior of M1 phase

2009

Nb-free (SbO)(2)M(20)O(56) catalysts (M = Mo, V) presenting pure M1 phase have been prepared by a post-synthesis treatment with hydrogen peroxide of a heat-treated MoVSbO mixed metal oxide catalyst previously prepared by hydrothermal method. The characterization of catalysts and their results for propane oxidation suggest that the optimization in the preparation of the M1 phase depends strongly on the washing procedure. The optimal removing of Sb species formed during post-synthesis treatment can explain the improvement in the catalytic activity; while the better selectivity to acrylic acid of the catalysts obtained by post-synthesis treatment can be explained by the elimination of M2 phase…

Shoot age as a confounding factor on detecting the effect of human-induced disturbance on Posidonia oceanica growth performance

2007

Abstract The response of orthotropic rhizome elongation and primary production of Posidonia oceanica to anthropogenic perturbations and potential confounding effects of shoot age were assessed using a Linear Multilevel Model (LMM). This model examined the confounding effect of age by comparing the estimates of impact and variance components obtained by excluding and including Age as an explanatory variable. Age had a negative effect on rhizome elongation and primary production with an annual decrease of 0.6 mm y − 1 and 7 mg dw y − 1 respectively. According to the LMM when age effect was omitted, the differences between disturbed and control locations in rhizome elongation and primary produ…

Coupled coincidence points for compatible mappings satisfying mixed monotone property

2012

We establish coupled coincidence and coupled fixed point results for a pair of mappings satisfying a compatibility hypothesis in partially ordered metric spaces. An example is given to illustrate our obtained results.

Coupled common fixed point theorems in partially ordered G-metric spaces for nonlinear contractions

2014

The aim of this paper is to prove coupled coincidence and coupled common fixed point theorems for a mixed $g$-monotone mapping satisfying nonlinear contractive conditions in the setting of partially ordered $G$-metric spaces. Present theorems are true generalizations of the recent results of Choudhury and Maity [Math. Comput. Modelling 54 (2011), 73-79], and Luong and Thuan [Math. Comput. Modelling 55 (2012) 1601-1609].

Mixed finite elements for nonlocal elastic multilayered composite plate refined theories

2020

Abstract A novel mixed finite element formulation for the layerwise analysis of nonlocal multilayered composite plates is presented. The finite elements are formulated starting from the weak form of a set of governing equations for the laminate layers that were deduced via the Reissner Mixed Variational Theorem. The primary variables, namely displacements and out-of-plane stresses, are expressed at layer level as through-the-thickness expansions of suitable selected functions with coefficients approximated by the finite element scheme. The through-the-thickness expansion order is considered as a free parameter. This way, finite elements for different refined higher order plate theories can …
