Cloud top altitude retrieved from Lidar measurements during ACLOUD at 1 second resolution

2021

During the ACLOUD aircraft campaign (23.5.2017 - 26.6.2017) the AMALi Lidar was installed mostly nadir pointing. This dataset contains the cloud top altitude from those measurements (altitudes with a strong signal increase) as well as a cloud mask, derived from the optical depth of the column at 1 second resolution. The majority of the data was collected northwest of the Svalbard archipelago. More details on the campaign can be found in Wendisch 2018 and Ehrlich 2019 and here (https://home.uni-leipzig.de/~ehrlich/ACLOUD_wiki_doku). Please check the data documentation (https://download.pangaea.de/reference/108729/attachments/readme_documentation_AMALi_cloudtop.pdf) before using this dataset.

Neural Petri Control: an application on a mobile robot

2006

In the present work, an innovative nonlinear controller of nonholonomic mechanical systems, characterized by a dynamic not well known model a priori, using a new neural model obtained by the combination of a Petri net with a neural network, is proposed. The performances of the control algorithm are evaluated for tasks of tracking of time trajectories. The study of the stability of the total system to closed loop is based on the Lyapunov theory. Simulation experiments, made taking into consideration a nonholonomic mobile robot, to two wheels, allowed to verify the theoretical results.

Measurement Invariance of the Short Version of the Problematic Mobile Phone Use Questionnaire (PMPUQ-SV) across Eight Languages

2018

The prevalence of mobile phone use across the world has increased greatly over the past two decades. Problematic Mobile Phone Use (PMPU) has been studied in relation to public health and comprises various behaviours, including dangerous, prohibited, and dependent use. These types of problematic mobile phone behaviours are typically assessed with the short version of the Problematic Mobile Phone Use Questionnaire (PMPUQ–SV). However, to date, no study has ever examined the degree to which the PMPU scale assesses the same construct across different languages. The aims of the present study were to (i) determine an optimal factor structure for the PMPUQ–SV among university populations using eig…

Targeting quality of life in asthmatic children: The MyTEP pilot randomized trial

2019

Abstract Background Quality of life (QoL) is an important outcome in the management of children with asthma. Mobile Health (m-Health) and Therapeutic Education Programs (TEPs) are increasingly recognized as essential components of pediatric asthma management to improve disease outcomes. Objective To evaluate the effect of an education program (MyTherapeutic Education Program, MyTEP) that couples multidisciplinary TEP intervention with an m-Health Program (mHP) in improving QoL in asthmatic children. Methods This single-center study employed a nonblinded randomized clinical trial design. Italian-speaking children (6–11 years) with mild-moderate asthma were eligible for participation. Partici…

Explaining Mobile Commerce Usage Intention Based on Technology Acceptance Models in a Developing Market Context

2021

Purpose – This paper aims to explain the intention to use mobile phones for shopping based on the technology acceptance model (TAM) and the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT2) model in a developing country context, characterized by the mobile channel’s high growth rates. The research model analyzes perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, social influence, facilitating conditions, and hedonic motivation on m-commerce usage intention. Design/Methodology/Approach – Data for the research were collected through a survey among mobile commerce users in Ecuador. We tested the model through partial least squares structural equations modeling (PLS-SEM). Findings and impli…

"This is who I am": Identity expressiveness and the theory of planned behavior

2007

- Peer reviewed This paper explores the role of self-identity expressiveness and social identity expressiveness in the context of Multimedia Messaging (MMS) adoption. An extended version of the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) including a wider array of identity and social influences is developed and tested. As hypothesized, self-identity expressiveness and social identity expressiveness prove to be significant determinants of intentions to use. Moreover, the extended TPB model explains 62% of the variance in usage intentions. The paper also investigates the relationship between self identity expressiveness and attitude and between social identity expressiveness and subjective norm. The stu…

Electronic functionality of Gd-bisphthalocyanine: Charge carrier concentration, charge mobility, and influence of local magnetic field

2018

Abstract Gadolinium bisphthalocyanine (GdPc2) has been placed among the highest ranked molecular materials considered namely for modern optoelectronic applications including organic solar cells. To improve understanding of the correlation between GdPc2 magnetic properties and its electronic functionality, we experimentally and theoretically studied charge carrier concentration, charge mobility, and influence of local magnetic field on charge carrier transport. For better clearance, all the main studied properties of GdPc2 bisphthalocyanine were compared with Zn phthalocyanine (ZnPc) as a reference material. Conductivity and charge carrier mobility were measured in materials incorporated in …

Joint LMMSE equalizer for HSDPA in full-rate space time transmit diversity schemes

2005

This contribution presents a joint linear minimum mean square error (LMMSE) equalizer for full-rate space-time transmit diversity multi-code schemes based on W-CDMA, featuring two and four transmit antennas. Specifically, high-rate, high load systems are targeted, in order to analyze the high speed downlink packet access (HSDPA) of 3GPP Release 6. We derive an equivalent transmission scheme to equalize the received sufficient statistic in a single stage. To reduce the effects of multipath and multiuser interference, and to provide spatial and frequency diversity at the receiver, an LMMSE equalizer is employed. Computer simulations confirm that the proposed schemes achieve robust performance…

Mobile banking adoption: A literature review

2015

Electronic commerce (e-commerce) continues to have a profound impact on the global business environment, but technologies and applications also have begun to focus more on mobile computing, the wireless Web, and mobile commerce. Against this backdrop, mobile banking (m-banking) has emerged as an important distribution channel, with considerable research devoted to its adoption. However, this research stream has lacked a clear roadmap or agenda. Therefore, the present article analyzes and synthesizes existing studies of m-banking adoption and maps the major theories that researchers have used to predict consumer intentions to adopt it. The findings indicate that the m-banking adoption litera…

Modelling Mobile Encounter Networks

2006

This article presents mobile encounter networks, which emerge when mobile devices come across each other and form a temporary connection between them using a common short-range radio technology. Local information exchanges between mobile devices results in a broadcast diffusion of information to other users of the network with a delay. In addition to presenting the concept of mobile encounter networks, we also provide an abstract method for describing the information diffusion process inside them. peerReviewed
