Erasmus mācību mobilitātes dalībniekiem ir piedāvāta iespēja pavadīt vienu vai divus semestrus studēt augstākās izglītības iestādē citā Eiropas valstī. Ierodoties šajā valstī, studentiem var rasties kultūršoks. Darba mērķis ir izpētīt kultūršoka jēdzienu un iegūt datus par visvairāk traucējošākajiem iemesliem, kas to izraisa, kā arī atrast veidus, kā to risināt. Šim nolūkam autore analizēja teorijas par kultūršoku, adaptāciju un atgriešanās kultūršoku, kā arī izstrādāja un veica starptautisku aptauju. Papildus tika intervēti četri Erasmus koordinatori no Latvijas un Lielbritānijas. Tika secināts, ka Erasmus apmaiņas studenti sastopas ar kultūršoku dažādās pakāpēs, kas ir atkarīgs no dalībni…

The restrictive measures implemented in response to the COVID-19 pandemic have triggered sudden massive changes to travel behaviors of people all around the world. This study examines the individual mobility patterns for all transport modes (walk, bicycle, motorcycle, car driven alone, car driven in company, bus, subway, tram, train, airplane) before and during the restrictions adopted in ten countries on six continents: Australia, Brazil, China, Ghana, India, Iran, Italy, Norway, South Africa and the United States. The paper discusses the approaches of virtual university strategies and developments in Europe. The discussion is partly based on the work done in the Activity 5 in the EU Thematic Network E4 and partly to the experiences gained through the activities of EUNITE virtual university network of six European universities. Abstract The article explores Finland’s national information society strategies and uses the Finnish case as an example to identify the limitation of the so-called ‘methodological nationalism’ and to explicate the advantages of the mobility paradigm. The research material consists of the Finnish national strategies published between 1995 and 2010. Labor Market Flexibility and Unemployment: New Empirical Evidence of Static and Dynamic Effects

The aim of this paper is to analyze the relationship between labor market flexibility and unemployment outcomes. Using a panel of 97 countries from 1985 to 2008, the results of the paper suggest that improvements in labor market flexibility have a statistically and significant negative impact on unemployment outcomes (over unemployment, youth unemployment, and long-term unemployment). Among the different labor market flexibility indicators analyzed, hiring and firing regulations and hiring costs are found to have the strongest effect.

On the development of a new approach to the design of lanthanide-based materials for solution-processed OLEDs

The targeted design of lanthanide-based emitters for solution-processed organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) resulted in obtaining an NIR OLED with one of the highest efficiencies among ytterbium-based solution-processed OLEDs (30 μW W-1). The design was aimed at the combination of high luminescence efficiency with solubility and charge carrier mobility. The latter was achieved thanks to the introduction of the purposefully selected neutral ligands, which combine electron mobility and the ability to sensitize lanthanide luminescence.
