Sykepleieres erfaringer med tidlig mobilisering av intuberte intensivpasienter

2014

Masteroppgave i spesialsykepleie – Universitetet i Agder 2014 Background: Studies show that early mobilization of the intubated ICU patients brings positive benefits for the patient. Aim: To illuminate nurses’ experiences with early mobilization of intubated patients in the ICU. Method: It was conducted individual interviews with six intensive care nurses from an ICU in Denmark. The data was analyzed using a qualitative content analysis. Results: The analysis resulted in three categories "New mobilization routines", "Benefits" and "Challenges" with two subcategories each, "New mobilization guide" and "Utilities", "The benefits for the patient" and "Economic benefits" and "Challenges in the …

Data from: Lake size and fish diversity determine resource use and trophic position of a top predator in high-latitude lakes

2015

Prey preference of top predators and energy flow across habitat boundaries are of fundamental importance for structure and function of aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems, as they may have strong effects on production, species diversity, and food-web stability. In lakes, littoral and pelagic food-web compartments are typically coupled and controlled by generalist fish top predators. However, the extent and determinants of such coupling remains a topical area of ecological research and is largely unknown in oligotrophic high-latitude lakes. We analyzed food-web structure and resource use by a generalist top predator, the Arctic charr Salvelinus alpinus (L.), in 17 oligotrophic subarctic lakes…

Role of comprehensive geriatric assessment in the management of osteoporotic hip fracture in the elderly: an overview

2013

Purpose: To highlight the advantages of comprehensive geriatric assessment (CGA) over usual care in the management of elderly patients with fragility hip fractures in terms of reducing the related mortality and disability. Method: An overview of publications on the topic was conducted using the MEDLINE and EMBASE databases. Results: Several models of geriatric and orthopedic comanagement have been developed in recent years, all characterized by a variable degree of integration, and they have been shown to reduce complications, disability and mortality in elderly hip-fracture patients. Preoperatively, CGA should identify the comorbidities that need to be treated in view of surgery, so as to …

Assessment of Mobilization Cost for Multiple Myeloma Using 2 Different Mobilization Strategies: High-Dose Cyclophosphamide Versus Plerixafor. on Beha…

2016

Abstract Background. Peripheral blood stem cell (PBSC) collection prior to high dose chemotherapy for autologous transplantation (ASCT) is a standard of care, and an attractive alternative to the use of bone marrow cells, for transplantation in Multiple Myeloma (MM). The optimal methodology for mobilizing PBSC has yet to be defined, both G-CSF and GM-CSF can be used; although, the stimulatory effect may be more pronounced when given after high dose cyclophosphamide (usually administered at a dose of 1.5 to 6g/m2 IV for one to two days) and use of Plerixafor, a CXCR4 antagonist (Mozobil®). The latter 2 options are preferred, overall, in France. Indeed, it was shown that the most recent combi…

Cement augmentation for trochanteric fracture in elderly: A systematic review()

2021

Abstract Background Cement augmentation of internal fixation of hip fracture has reported to improve fracture stability in osteoporotic hip fractures, reducing the risk of cut-out of the sliding screw through the femoral head. The purpose of present study was to perform a systematic literature review on the effects of augmentation technique in patients with osteoporotic hip fractures. Material and methods A comprehensive literature search was systematically performed to evaluate all papers published in English language included in the literature between January 2010 and July 2020, according to the PRISMA 2009 guidelines. In vivo and in vitro studies, case reports, review articles, cadaveric…

Domestic resource mobilization by social movement organizations in Latin America : a case study of the Abrinq Foundation for children rights of Brazil

2008

The aim of this Master’s thesis is to study the feasibility and sustainability of mobilizing domestic resources to advance social movement causes in Latin America. The question is based on the understanding that Social Movement Organizations (SMO) can mobilize the resources –funds and labor- of domestic elite instances in order to favor their beneficiary bases. The thesis proposes a Domestic Resource Mobilization (DRM) approach and addresses various theoretical and practical concerns regarding the qualitative impact of that conception in the work of Social Movement Organizations. The specific focus of is centered on resource mobilization strategies and initiatives conducted by the SMO Abrin…
