The continuous growth of urban areas and the increasing public awareness of the environmental impacts of storm water have raised interest on the quality of the receiving water bodies. We have recently described an automated approach for homology modeling using restrained molecular dynamics and simulated annealing procedures (Li et al, Protein Sci., 6:956-970,1997). We have employed this approach for constructing a homology model of the putative RNA-binding domain of the human RNA-binding protein with multiple splice sites (RBP-MS). The regions of RBP-MS which are homologous to the template protein snRNP U1A were constrained by "homology distance constraints," while the conformation of the non-homologous regions were defined only by a potential energy function. Analytical and Numerical Investigation of 3D Multilayer Detachment Folding

Multilayer detachment folding, in which a sequence of sedimentary layers is compressed above a weaker salt layer, is a common mode of deformation in thin-skinned fold-and-thrust belts. Here, we investigate the dynamics of multilayer detachment folding with three different viscosities: lower detachment or salt layer, overlying weak layers and competent layers. A semi-analytical solution, based on thick plate analysis of multilayer systems, is used to create mechanical phase diagrams of folding dominant wavelength and growth rate as a function of material parameters. Monte Carlo simulations of polymer dynamics: Recent advances

A brief review is given of applications of Monte Carlo simulations to study the dynamical properties of coarse-grained models of polymer melts, emphasizing the crossover from the Rouse model toward reptation, and the glass transition. The extent to which Monte Carlo algorithms can mimic the actual chain dynamics is critically examined, and the need for the use of coarse-grained rather than fully atomistic models for such simulations is explained. The adverse effects to humans and environment of only few chemicals are well known. Absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion (ADME) are the steps of pharmaco/toxicokinetics that determine the internal dose of chemicals to which the organism is exposed. Of all the xenobiotic-metabolizing enzymes, the cytochrome P450 (CYP) enzymes are the most important due to their abundance and versatility. Reactions catalyzed by CYPs usually turn xenobiotics to harmless and excretable metabolites, but sometimes an innocuous xenobiotic is transformed into a toxic metabolite. Proposal of a neuro-fuzzy model of a WWW server

This paper presents the ways of designing simulation models of Web servers. At the beginning queuing network models are introduced, those models are generally known and often used in the initial phase of research on particular technical solutions. Next, an entirely new approach to the issue discussed is presented - neuro-fuzzy models, thanks to which, it is possible to automate the process of designing simulation models. The results of comparative tests of these two models are presented. Based on these results it can be concluded that neuro-fuzzy models are accurate and can be used in simulation research.
