The Personal Wellbeing Index in Spanish Palliative Care Professionals: A Cross-Sectional Study of Wellbeing
2021
Health professionals are especially exposed to stress, with consequences on professionals’ health and wellbeing. However, palliative care professionals’ wellbeing has been the subject of very little research. The aim of this work is to study the Personal Wellbeing Index (PWI) in a sample of Spanish palliative care professionals, as well as to study their levels of wellbeing and the relationships of wellbeing with variables such as gender, age, marital status, profession, and professional quality of life. A cross-sectional survey of Spanish palliative care professionals was conducted. The Spanish version of the PWI and the Short version of the Professional Quality of Life Scale were used. He…
Psychometric Evaluation of Nursing Professionals Involved in Palliative Care
2017
Continuous Glucose Monitoring in Type 1 Diabetes
2016
Background: Continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) patient systems have been shown to improve diabetes self-treatment when used consistently. The meaningful integration of this technology into everyday life, however, can vary greatly among CGM users and not all people with diabetes use CGM to its full potential. To address this issue, the study pursued 2 aims: first, to identify patient characteristics that underlie the acceptance of CGM in people with type 1 diabetes and, second, to examine the effects of different levels of experience with CGM use. Methods: Guided by a model based on the technology acceptance model (TAM), structural equation modeling (SEM) was employed to model the patient c…

Predicting determinants of satisfaction with the life in a sample of elderly students through(a) structural equation model
2015
The goal of this work is to examine the benefits of the Universities of Third Age in Portugal territory on the life of its senior students. It intends to verify if there could be any positive effect on the quality of life of these students, on their vital satisfaction and on their isolation and loneliness. Therefore, it seeks to determine the existence of depressive and anxiety symptoms in subjects. What if the activities offered by the Universities of Third Age promote the decrease of depressive and anxiety symptom. For this study, was collected a sample throughout the Portuguese territory, covering various Universities of the Third Age. The sample was composed only by elderly people who a…
Disability, physical activity, and muscle strength in older women: The women's health and aging study
1999
Abstract Objective: To study associations of motor disability, physical activity, and muscle strength in older women, in particular to investigate whether model of spiraling decrease is expressed in the data. Design: Cross-sectional analysis using data from the base-line measurements of The Women's Health and Aging Study (WHAS). Setting: Participants' homes. Participants: A total of 1,002 disabled women aged 65 years and older living in the community. Outcome Measures: Motor disability was measured by the number of self-reported difficulties in grasping, lifting 101b, walking across a small room, walking 14 mile, climbing 10 steps, and doing heavy housework. Level of physical activity was d…
Il Gran Caffè di Giuseppe Damiani Almeyda
2015
Intercomparison of remote-sensing based evapotranspiration algorithms over amazonian forests
2019
Abstract Evapotranspiration (ET) is considered a key variable in the understanding of the Amazonian tropical forests and their response to climate change. Remote-Sensing (RS) based evapotranspiration models are presented as a feasible means in order to provide accurate spatially-distributed ET estimates over this region. In this work, the performance of four commonly used ET RS models was evaluated over Amazonia using Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) data. RS models included i) Priestley-Taylor Jet Propulsion Laboratory (PT-JPL), ii) Penman-Monteith MODIS operative parametrization (PM-Mu), iii) Surface Energy Balance System (SEBS), and iv) Satellite Application Facility…
Cloud-based interactive susceptibility modeling of gully erosion in Google Earth Engine
2022
The gully erosion susceptibility literature is largely dominated by contributions focused on model comparison. This has led to prioritize certain aspects and leave others underdeveloped as compared to other natural hazard applications. For instance, in gully erosion data-driven modeling most studies use different platforms when it comes to data management, modeling and conversion into predictive maps. This in turn has limited the scope to catchment-scales. In this manuscript, we opt to propose a tool where the whole modeling procedure is unified within the same cloud computing system, allowing one to get rid of potential errors caused by input/output operations but also to extend the study …
A Multi-Criteria Decision Support System for Strategic Planning at the Swiss Forest Enterprise Level: Coping With Climate Change and Shifting Demands…
2021
Sustainable forest management plays a key role for forest biodiversity and the provisioning of ecosystem services (BES), including the important service of carbon sequestration for climate change mitigation. Forest managers, however, find themselves in the increasingly complex planning situation to balance the often conflicting demands in BES. To cope with this situation, a prototype of a decision support system (DSS) for strategic (long-term) planning at the forest enterprise level was developed in the present project. The DSS was applied at three case study enterprises (CSEs) in Northern Switzerland, two lowland and one higher-elevation enterprise, for a 50-year time horizon (2010 to 2060…
