Field Measurements and Parameter Calibrations of Propagation Model for Digital Audio Broadcasting in Norway

2018

During 2017, digital audio broadcasting (DAB) replaces frequency modulation (FM) broadcasting and becomes the only technology for national terrestrial audio broadcasting services in Norway. As Norway is the first country that replaces FM completely with DAB, it is of great importance to measure the signal strength of such a technology in massive deployments and to tune a simulation model as a reference for future studies. Therefore, field measurements of received signal strength are carried out in a typical Norwegian area in this work. Based on the data obtained from the measurements, a simulator with a recent empirical propagation model, namely, ITU-R P.1546-5, has been calibrated. The fin…

Generalized “one-pot” preparative strategy to obtain highly functionalized silica-based mesoporous spherical particles

2022

In this work we present a synthesis strategy for the preparation of Stöber-type mesoporous particles functionalized with inorganic species. The procedure is based on a combination of the Atrane and the Stöber methods. Both as a source of silicon and of the incorporated heteroelements (Fe, Zn, Al, Ti) the corresponding atrane complexes are used as hydrolytic reagents. These complexes are easily formed by reaction with triethanolamine. Mesoporosity is achieved using surfactant micelles as templates. Obtaining uniform spherical particles is achieved by optimizing the amount of water-ethanol in the reaction medium. The particle sizes have been modulated by controlling simple parameters such as …

Influence of heme oxygenase 1 modulation on the progression of murine collagen-induced arthritis.

2005

Contains fulltext : 48023.pdf (Publisher’s version ) (Closed access) OBJECTIVE: Heme oxygenase 1 (HO-1) can be induced by inflammatory mediators as an adaptive response. The objective of the present study was to determine the consequences of HO-1 modulation in the murine collagen-induced arthritis (CIA) model. METHODS: DBA/1J mice were treated with an inhibitor of HO-1, tin protoporphyrin IX (SnPP), or with an inducer of HO-1, cobalt protoporphyrin IX (CoPP), from day 22 to day 29 after CIA induction. The clinical evolution of disease was monitored visually. At the end of the experiment, joints were examined for histopathologic changes. Cytokine levels in paws were measured by enzyme-linked…

On the Provisioning of Mobile Digital Terrestrial TV Services to Vehicles With DVB-T

2012

[EN] Most of the DVB-T (Digital Video Broadcasting -Terrestrial) networks deployments worldwide have been designed for fixed rooftop antennas and high transmission capacity, not providing good coverage level for vehicular mobile reception. This letter analyzes how to combine different technical solutions, so far studied individually, in order to increase the robustness of the transmission for vehicular reception to provide in-band mobile services. In particular, we consider: receive antenna diversity, hierarchical modulation, and Application Layer Forward Error Correction (AL-FEC). Performance evaluation results have been obtained by means of simulations, laboratory tests, and field measure…

Structural and Functional Basis for Understanding the Biological Significance of P2X7 Receptor

2020

The P2X7 receptor (P2X7R) possesses a unique structure associated to an as yet not fully understood mechanism of action that facilitates cell permeability to large ionic molecules through the receptor itself and/or nearby membrane proteins. High extracellular adenosine triphosphate (ATP) levels—inexistent in physiological conditions—are required for the receptor to be triggered and contribute to its role in cell damage signaling. The inconsistent data on its activation pathways and the few studies performed in natively expressed human P2X7R have led us to review the structure, activation pathways, and specific cellular location of P2X7R in order to analyze its biological relevance. The ATP-…

New Multilevel Inverter Topology with Reduced Component Count

2019

This paper introduces a new topology of modular multilevel inverters, being suitable in medium and high voltage applications. As compared to the existing circuits, the proposed topology has advantages of high ‘levels/components’ ratio, increasing the output voltage levels without increasing the voltage stress across the used switches, structure simplicity, isolation features, and modularity. These merits allow it to fit well in high-reliability medium-power applications, which require fast troubleshooting and maintenance flexibility. Operating principles of the proposed scheme are detailed in low frequency and pulse width modulation. Simulation and experimental results validate the effectiv…

On Fourier integral operators with Hölder-continuous phase

2018

We study continuity properties in Lebesgue spaces for a class of Fourier integral operators arising in the study of the Boltzmann equation. The phase has a H\"older-type singularity at the origin. We prove boundedness in $L^1$ with a precise loss of decay depending on the H\"older exponent, and we show by counterexamples that a loss occurs even in the case of smooth phases. The results can be seen as a quantitative version of the Beurling-Helson theorem for changes of variables with a H\"older singularity at the origin. The continuity in $L^2$ is studied as well by providing sufficient conditions and relevant counterexamples. The proofs rely on techniques from Time-frequency Analysis.

Recursive Selective Harmonic Elimination for Multilevel Inverters: Mathematical Formulation and Experimental Validation

2023

A recursive method that eliminates +1 harmonics and their respective multiples from the output voltage of a cascaded H-bridge multilevel inverters with = 2 dc sources ( = 1, 2, 3,...) is proposed. It solves 2×2 linear systems with not singular matrices and always gives an exact solution with very low computational effort. Simulated results in three-phase five, nine, seventeen and thirty three level CHB inverters, and experimental results in five-level inverter demonstrate the validity of the method.

Novel Isolated Multiple-Input Buck-Boost DC-DC Converter for Renewable Energy Sources

2021

An isolated multiple input dc-dc converter (MIC) with unidirectional buck-boost characteristics and simultaneous power transfer is proposed for multi-sources in renewable energy systems in this paper. When compared to existing isolated MICs, the proposed MIC significantly reduces the component count and control complexity since it requires a fixed coupled inductor with only one primary and secondary winding each for any number of inputs and does not require any phase-shifted pulse-width modulation. The operation of the proposed converter for simultaneous power transfer from multiple sources with varying voltages is numerically verified in simulation and validated on OPAL-RT’s OP5700 hardwar…
