This dissertation deals with the iconography of the Three Kings from the Xth to the XIIth century, by means of a study of its adaptation on monumental decoration in Latin Europe, so as to unravel how it was adapted by feudal society. In order to do so, the first question is that of the new royal status acquired in the Xth century by the Magi from the Gospel of Matthew, analyzed thanks to the concept of “ruler figure” that emerged at the time and was depicted by Marc Bloch in Les Rois thaumaturges (1924) and Ernst Kantorowicz in the The King’s Two Bodies (1957). La prospección geofísica (magnetometría y tomografía), y los microsondeos (augers) han dirigido la planificación de la excavación con el fin de obtener nuevos datos a propósito de la naturaleza y cronología del gran foso prehistórico, así como de las diversas estructuras localizadas. El patrimonio artístico valenciano ha venido sufriendo en las dos últimas centurias (siglos XIX y XX) una considerable pérdida, debido a desamortizaciones, guerras, derribos incontrolados, ventas fraudulentas y expolios. Es la arquitectura monumental la mayormente afectada por esta lacra; así como la desaparición en Valencia de palacios nobles y casas solariegas derribadas, en muchas ocasiones por una equivocada expansión urbanística y la especulación del suelo. Las páginas precedentes son ejemplo de esa desidia y abandono, muchas veces permisivos, y buena muestra de lo que nunca debió ocurrir en tierras valencianas.

The paper presents the results of a campaign of non-destructive and minimally invasive tests that were conducted in the church of Santa Maria delle Stelle in Comiso (Ragusa, Sicily), which is the larger church in the Diocese of Ragusa. It includes a summary of the reflections that arose during the preliminary surveys and instrumental tests, and reasons that supported the choice of investigations to be performed and methods to be specifically applied for the consolidation of the architectural structures and plaster layers.

Infrared-Thermography (IRT) has become a supporting tool for the investigation of historical structures and facades. Using the non-destructive testing method for the detection can give a profound knowledge about the current status of the object and the state of decay, about different kinds of discontinuities at historical facades, of construction details and of thermal bridges in the facades. Different case studies of thermographic surveys on some Sicilian monuments are presented and discussed to illustrate how the method can offer applicable information about the investigated objects and demonstrate its reasonable integration into conservation projects.

Notoriamente le tecniche di Realtà virtualmente Aumentata (AR) consentono di arricchire la scena “reale” acquisita da un dispositivo portatile – usato come protesi percettiva (indossabile) – integrandovi oggetti di sintesi (virtuali) che figurano tanto verosimilmente in scena da essere giudicati altrettanto “reali”. Sia la Realtà Virtuale (VR), sia la AR, producendo esperienze di telepresenza consapevolmente decettive, funziona come una forma artificiale (protesica e utilitaria) di allucinazione1 consapevole, cioè, di “sogno lucido”.
