Jaunatnes politika Ikšķiles novadā
2017
Applying System Dynamics Modeling To Foster a Cause-and-Effect Perspective in Dealing with Behavioral Distortions Associated with a City’s Performanc…
2015
This paper aims to show how applying system dynamics methodology to performance management can provide a powerful modeling perspective enabling public sector organizations to prevent, detect, and counteract behavioral distortions associated with performance measurement. A dynamic performance management approach is able to support performance management system designers in outlining and implementing a consistent set of measures that can allow public sector decision-makers to pursue sustainable organizational learning and development. This perspective implies a major shift from a static to a dynamic picture of organizational processes and results. It means framing delays between causes and ef…
In this paper is analyzed the municipal debt evolution of the Lleida region during the late seventeenth century. It highlights the importan…
Storie di città pugliesi. Edizioni a stampa: secoli XVI-XVIII
2011
A DYNAMIC PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT APPROACH TO FOSTER MUNICIPAL POLICE STRATEGIES IN PALERMO TO CONTAIN SPEEDING AND DRUNK DRIVING
Road related fatalities kill 1,25 million people every year around the world and rank as the ninth cause of death according to some recent statistics by the WHO. Actions to reduce this phenomenon have been taken, at different institutional levels, with promising results, particularly in western societies, where the magnitude of such occurrences has been almost halved in the last decade. Nevertheless the level of attention, with regard to road safety, will have to be kept high if a further reduction of this phenomenon is to be reached. Traditional road safety-related approaches mainly focus on prevention through the constant improvement of vehicles’ safety devices and the rationalization of …
2015
During the government of Augustus the city of Sagunto was transformed in a place symbol of modernity. It is no coincidence that the necessary developing infrastructures were consolidated around it for an optimal development: higher quality viae or better port platforms. Different type of streets emerged following an order of importance depending many times on the wealth of their users. Towards the exit of the city burial monuments were placed honoring relevant citizens. As many other major towns of Hispania, Saguntum is not an exception of great transformations.

Aerobic granular sludge: State of the art, applications, and new perspectives.
2018
The aerobic granular sludge (AGS) process has attracted significant interest over the last decade and is one of the most promising wastewater treatment technologies. AGS offers several advantages over conventional activated sludge (CAS) including excellent settling, and higher volumetric loading capacity. Because of porosity, concentration gradients develop and stratified aerobic, anoxic, and anaerobic layers develop throughout granule depth. This is the reason for simultaneous nutrient removal in a single tank. Aerobic granulation is influenced by many parameters including wastewater characteristics and operating conditions. Among these, the anaerobic upflow feeding strategy and a properly…
Biological nutrient removal in a UCT-MBR pilot
2010
In the last years, there has been an increasing awareness about the environment pollution protection. As a consequence, the Environmental Regulation has increased the emission limits imposing, for instance, lower concentrations at the wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) outlets. As a consequence of this fact, several WWTPs are not able to respect the emission limits and need to be upgraded. In view of such needs new technology are emerging and new WWTP solution schemes are being realized. With respects to the nutrient removal enhancing, a possible solution can be the UCT-MBR which couples the University of Cape Town scheme with a Membrane Bioreactor. In the light of such considerations, the s…
