Distribution, ecology and conservation survey on Trifolium michelianum Savi (Fabaceae) in Sicily (Italy)
2013
We report the identification of four residual stations for Trifolium michelianum Savi (Fabaceae) in Sicily, whereas the species was documented to be extinct at the Gorgo Cerro station (western Sicily), the only locality previously reported in the literature. In addition to an update on the distribution of the species, a survey on the new Sicilian populations led to their biological, ecological and phytosociological characterization, as well as to an assessment of the risk factors. The species, here relegated to the limit of its distribution area, occurs in particularly sensitive and vulnerable environments, such as the “Mediterranean temporary ponds”, considered “priority” by the Council Di…
Carnaval y música: una breve semblanza de la Tuna Compostelana de 1888
2021
At the end of the 19th century, Spanish carnivals have been marked by the participation of the different tunas or also known as, estudiantinas. These groups achieved significant relevance in Galicia, especially in the city of Compostela, which, year after year, encouraged and supported the formation of groups of this nature to liven up the carnivals in the different Spanish cities. Although, different from its predecessors, the Santiago Tuna of 1888 ventured and made its mark in history, thanks to its intrepidity in having been the first Galician group that crossed the borders and enlivened the carnivals in the cities of the neighboring country, Portugal. This research, approached from a hi…

The Uses of the Imagination in Moral Neuroeducation
2019
In contrast to influential theories that focus on top-down, deliberative reasoning, triune ethics theory seeks to gather findings from neurobiology, affective neuroscience, and cognitive science and integrate them into a bottom-up theory that focuses on that motivational orientations that are rooted in experientially formed, evolved, unconscious emotional systems. Triune ethics theory identifies three basic attractors for moral functioning based on brain evolution: safety, engagement and imagination. It proposes an integrative ethical education model based on the notion of a moral imagination, which can enhance moral development. It integrates, on the one hand, John Dewey’s theory of moral …
