Artykuł jest próbą interpretacji dzieł Mikołaja Reja i Marcina Bielskiego w kategoriach encyklopedycznego teatru. Taka konstrukcja stanowi odwzorowanie obrazu ówczesnego świata. Można mówić o zgodności między uczonymi treściami a wielką machiną theatrum mundi, którego struktury, relacje i zakres sprawnie funkcjonują w zamkniętym dyskursie literackich utworów. „Krotochwila ludzka” staje się więc miejscem zmagań człowieka z własnymi słabościami i losem. Anti-inflammatory activity in selected Antarctic benthic organisms

Antarctic benthos was prospected in search for anti-inflammatory activity in polar benthic invertebrates, in two different geographical areas: deep-bottoms of the Eastern Weddell Sea and shallow-waters of the South Shetland Islands. A total of 36 benthic algae and invertebrate species were selected to perform solubility tests in order to obtain extracts that were soluble at an innocuous ethanol concentration (0.2%) for cell culture, and further test them for anti-inflammatory activity. From these, ethanol extracts of ten species from five different phyla resulted suitable to be studied in cell macrophage cultures (RAW 264.7). Ursula Hicks and Vera Lutz’s Contributions to Development Finance

International audience; This paper analyses the different approaches of two pioneering economists in the field of development finance, Ursula Kathleen Hicks (1896-1985) and Vera Constance Lutz (1912-1976). While research in economics in the 1950s focuses predominantly on finance in already developed countries (Goldsmith, 1969 and Gurley and Shaw, 1955), Hicks and Lutz extended the analysis to developing countries and/or regions – an original initiative for this period of time. Interested in the study of money and banking, Hicks and Lutz nevertheless had different beliefs on the way to promote economic development. This difference of thought comes from differing philosophical backgrounds.

Explosive eruptions with little warning: Experimental petrology and volcano monitoring observations from the 2014 eruption of Kelud, Indonesia

Explosive eruptions that occur with little or no precursory unrest (less than a month) pose the greatest hazards from volcanoes to nearby populations. Here we focus on the preeruptive conditions for these explosive events, their triggers and how these eruptions evolve. We concentrate on Kelud volcano, where we have conducted a set of petrological experiments to understand preeruptive storage conditions for several recent eruptions. For the 2014 explosive eruption, we combine this with an analysis of interferometric synthetic aperture radar measured deformation. Juoksuharrastuksesta eriytynyt polkujuoksu on suosiotaan vahvasti 2010-luvulla kasvattanut liikuntamuoto. Käsillä oleva tutkimus on ensimmäinen suomalaista polkujuoksuharrastusta kartoittava liikuntasosiologinen tutkimus. Polkujuoksuharrastusta taustoitetaan teoreettisesti vapaa-ajan elämäntavan, luontoliikunnan sekä kestävyysliikunnan ilmiönä. Tutkimukselle on asetettu neljä tutkimuskysymystä: 1) Ketkä harrastavat polkujuoksua? 2) Miten polkujuoksua harrastetaan? 3) Kuinka kiinnittyneitä polkujuoksun harrastajat ovat harrastukseensa? 4) Miten polkujuoksijat haluaisivat liikuntamuodon kehittyvän?
