We investigated the efficacy and tolerability of three different types of interferon-alpha, administered with the same schedule to naive patients with chronic hepatitis C. One hundred and seven patients with histologically proven chronic hepatitis C were enrolled during a period of three years and randomly divided into three groups, to receive (a) leukocyte-interferon-alpha, 6 MU three times a week for 4 months, followed by 3 MU three times a week for 8 months (Group I); (b) recombinant-IFN-alpha-2a, with the same schedule (Group II); and (c) lymphoblastoid-IFN-alpha-N1, with the same schedule (Group III). AbstractOf 66 patients with irradiated prostatic carcinoma 53 were controlled regularly by repeat aspiration biopsy every 6 months. Local sterilization was achieved in 43 per cent but the results of combined radiotherapy (endocrine therapy plus irradiation) were only 8 per cent more favorable than those in patients treated by radiotherapy alone. Thus, endocrine therapy is not warranted before the radiation effect is evaluated. Post-radiation treatment should be determined by the clinical and bioptic findings.

The influence of the anti-prolactin bromocriptine on plasma kinetics, production rate and tissue uptake of testosterone was investigated in 15 patients with newly diagnosed stages C and D prostatic carcinoma. Bromocriptine was given for 5 days in a daily dose of 15 mg. orally. The studies were performed with the single injection technique using the 2-compartment model. Plasma testosterone, serum prolactin, and luteinizing and follicle-stimulating hormones were determined initially. Blood samples were drawn up to 5 hours after the injection of 3H-testosterone. The aim of this study was to verify the diagnostic reliability of CB by comparing the histological results obtained with the use of this technique with those obtained from the whole of the surgically resected specimen. Plasma cell proliferations represent a heterogeneous spectrum of disorders. A 7-year-old Caucasian female had suffered an asymptomatic eruption on the trunk for 4 years. Physical examination revealed a plaque with scattered red-brown papules and nodules. Chemical analysis revealed normal proteinaemia. Histological examination of biopsy specimens showed dense perivascular and periadnexal infiltrate, consisting largely of plasma cells, in the superficial and deep dermis. Circulating neutralizing antibodies were measured against the rabies virus after the Vero cells rabies vaccine was administered at D0, D7, D21 and D49.
