Long term complications following pelvic and para-aortic lymphadenectomy for endometrial cancer, incidence and potential risk factors: a single insti…

2019

ObjectiveTo determine the incidence of long term lymphadenectomy complications in primary surgery for endometrial cancer and to elucidate risk factors for these complications.MethodsA retrospective chart review was carried out for all patients with endometrial cancer managed at Parma University Hospital Unit of Gynecology and Obstetrics between 2010 and 2016. Inclusion criteria were surgical procedure including hysterectomy and lymphadenectomy (pelvic or pelvic and aortic). We identified patients with postoperative lymphocele and lower extremity lymphedema. Logistic regression analysis was used to identify predictive factors for postoperative complications.ResultsOf the 249 patients tested,…

The Pro-Inflammatory IL23/IL23R/IL17 Axis Is Active in IL23R-Expressing Circulating CLL Cells in Patients with Poor Prognosis

2012

Abstract Abstract 3889 Inflammatory cytokines play a biological role in the pathogenesis of Chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). IL23 is a pro-inflammatory cytokine involved in T-cell responses and in tissue remodeling. It has been shown that the IL23 receptor (IL23R) is up-regulated in primary acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) cells, and that IL23 inhibits ALL cell growth. Nevertheless, the anti-tumor function of IL23 still remains controversial. The role of the IL23R/IL23 axis in CLL has not been investigated so far. Herein we evaluated the expression pattern of IL23R/IL23 axis and its correlation with progression free survival (PFS) in CLL patients. A total of 233 newly diagnosed Binet s…

Lymphatic vessels of the dura mater: a new discovery?

2015

Aspelund et al. discover the presence of a lymphatic vessel network in the dura mater of the mouse brain and show that these dural lymphatic vessels are important for the clearance of macromolecules from the brain.

Bermudagrass adaptation in the Mediterranean climate: phenotypic traits of 44 accessions

2014

The use of bermudagrass in the Mediterranean area is increasing for its outstanding tolerance to heat and drought, and its aggressive growth and high recuperative potential make it particularly suited to heavily worn areas and appreciated for sports turfs. However, the overall performance of a given genetic type can be affected by the adaptation to a specific environment. The objective of this research was to determine the variability of a number of phenotypic traits that can affect bermudagrass turf performance on a wide range of bermudagrass accessions grown in two locations in Italy. In May 2010, 44 accessions of bermudagrasses, grouped in “wild”, “improved” “hybrid” and “dwarf” types we…

Comparison of 99mTc-Labeled Colloid SPECT/CT and Planar Lymphoscintigraphy in Sentinel Lymph Node Detection in Patients with Melanoma: A Meta-Analysis

2020

We compared the detection rate (DR) for sentinel lymph nodes (SLNS), the number of SLNs and the subjects with additional SLNs of single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT/CT) and planar lymphoscintigraphy (PL) in patients with melanoma. Furthermore, we evaluated the impact of SPECT/CT on surgical plans. Articles containing head-to-head comparisons between SPECT/CT and PL were searched in Pubmed/MEDLINE and Scopus. The literature search was updated until December 31st, 2019. DR was calculated on a per-patient-based analysis; the studies were pooled by their odds ratios (ORs) with a random effects model to assess the significance of difference (p < 0.05). The number of additional S…

Random utility approach to re-design passengers interchange nodes

2009

The passengers interchange node is a complex infrastructure, where the user can choose among different modal options to do his/her trip. These transport infrastructures have various terminals (car park, bus stop, metro, light rail, railway, extra-urban and sub urban bus and so on). The passengers, inside interchange node, have to reach these terminals walking often with luggage and for long distances. We calibrated a discrete choice model taking into account attributes able to explain the passenger behaviour by observed flows and generalized least squares technique. Furthermore an ex ante / ex post analysis was carried out in order to design and evaluate measure to incentive modal integrati…

Adaptive range-based localization algorithm based on trilateration and reference node selection for outdoor wireless sensor networks

2022

Locating the nodes of outdoor wireless sensor networks (WSNs) using (tri)lateration with a low-cost ranging technique, such as the received signal strength indicator (RSSI), often results in inaccurate location estimates. This can mostly be explained by the combined effect of distance estimate errors and localization geometry, both of which are subject to the reference nodes used. To develop techniques for reducing localization error, the distance estimate errors and localization geometry must be analyzed and taken into account. To address these challenges, this paper aims to seek ways to improve the quality of range-based trilateration localization for WSN nodes in varying outdoor conditio…

PROGETTARE LO SPAZIO INTERCULTURALE. Approccio multi-scalare nel quartiere Albergheria a Palermo / DESIGNING INTERCULTURAL SPACE. A multi-scalar appr…

2020

Migration has always been a major driver of urban transformation stimulating opportunities and challenges for cities and encouraging architectural and urban designers for taking a proactive and dynamic role in responding to the crisis. Enhancing these changes, and designing intercultural spaces for local communities, is a complex and urgent spatial challenge, that should be addressed by a multi-scalar approach aiming to integrate urban, architectural and public spaces. This paper illustrates a research-action resulting from a collective work developed on key urban spaces of the Albergheria neighborhood of Palermo, where a design-led research based on a multiscalar regeneration approach (urb…

Tiesas izdevumu regulējuma mijiedarbība ar personas tiesībām uz taisnīgu tiesu.

2022

Ņemot vērā tiesas izdevumu apmēra aktualitātes nemainīgumu, darba mērķis ir izvērtēt, vai šobrīd Latvijā pastāvošais tiesas izdevumu regulējums nesamērīgi neierobežo personu tiesības uz taisnīgu tiesu. Tādējādi darba uzdevums ir sākotnēji izpētīt tiesas izdevumu veidus, identificējot ar tām saistītās problēmas. Īpaši izceļot valsts nodevu regulējumu un aplūkojot tādus aspektus kā nepareizu pieauguma jēdziena interpretāciju un pirmās instances tiesas tiesneša pārlieku lielo rīcības brīvību valsts nodevas apmēra noteikšanā. Darba praktiskajā daļā tiek turpmāk izvērstas problēmas, kas saistāmas ar personu atbrīvošanu no tiesas izdevumu samaksas. Secināms, ka Latvijā valsts nodevu apmērs ir nes…
