The present note serves to validate the names Stenothoe bella and Stenothoe levantina by fulfilling ICZN conditions for nomenclatural availability.
A (very) brief vademecum on biological nomenclature

This editorial is aimed at explaining why the editors of Hydrobiologia are so concerned with biological nomenclature and why we ask our authors the utmost precision when referring to species in their papers... In these lines, we want to show that this is not just an old fashion formalism, but a necessity to correctly and univocally identify the biological subjects that are the basis of the research published in ecology-related journals.
An extra-urban soil cadastre for Italy: a first guide for the introduction of soil information

Assuming a positive outcome of the parliamentary procedure for laws and, thus, the transformation of the official cadastre for buildings and land into a soil cadastre (urban, extra-urban and cadastre for the conservation of natural or semi-natural soil diversity) would start a new era for pedology. Finally, after many decades of activity to expand soil culture in Italy, almost all Italian families would be in contact with a soil specialist. Land use and redefined plots would be handled with greater care and responsibility. Experts in agricultural and forestry and biodiversity conservation would have a new impetus in their activity. Names for trace fossils: a uniform approach.

The taxonomic treatment of trace fossils needs a uniform approach, independent of the ethologic groups concerned. To this aim, trace fossils are rigorously defined with regard to biological taxa and physical sedimentary structures. Potential ichnotaxobases are evaluated, with morphology resulting as the most important criterion. For trace fossils related to bioerosion and herbivory, substrate plays a key role, as well as composition for coprolites. Size, producer, age, facies and preservation are rejected as ichnotaxobases. An inventory of the names of vascular plants endemic to Italy, their loci classici and types

The census of the loci classici of 1,400 Italian endemic vascular plants (i.e. not thriving elsewhere with the exception of Corsica and Malta) is here presented and described. The effective place of publication of accepted names, basionyms and homotypic synonyms were identified and critically verified. A reassessment of the sections of the genus Cytisus Desf. (Cytiseae, Leguminosae)

Recent morphological and molecular research on Cytisus and allied genera has produced a great deal of new data relevant to systematics, which have not yet been incorporated into a consistent classification system of the genus. We have compared and evaluated recently published cladograms and phenograms based on morphological and molecular (nuclear and plastid DNA) characters. The genus Cytisus sensu lato, including Calicotome, Chamaecytisus, Chronanthus, and Lembotropis, appears to be monophyletic. Nomenclatural and taxonomic remarks on Prunus cupaniana (Rosaceae) from Sicily

“Prunus cupaniana” is a nomen nudum doubtfully given by Gussone (1842) to some Sicilian populations close to Prunus mahaleb L. from which they are distinct by both biological and ecological characters. This name was later cited by Nyman (1878) which did not provide its validation, contrary to the erroneous IPNI report “Prunus cupaniana Guss. ex Nyman -- Consp. Fl. Eur. 1: 213. 1878 [Sep 1878]“. Fiori (1926) applied the Gussone’s epithet to the infraspecific combination “Prunus mahaleb cupaniana(Guss.)”, which is invalid being based on a nomen nudum.
