Bivalve mollusks shells valorisation and recycling: market potentiality and novel building products

2023

Construction is a fundamental driver of the world economy, recognized as a sector that generates a great contribution to the social and economic development. At the same time, it shows an enormous environmental impact through an unstoppable consumption of non-renewable resources, a high energy consumption, and an associated atmospheric emission of pollutant. Consequently, the research and development of novel and green production processes and sustainable building materials is of paramount importance. The sustainability of materials and production processes could be improved by enhancing and reusing wastes from various industrial sectors. In this paper, the fishery sector will be analysed, …

The representation of work in the French narration since the Thirty Glorious Years

2017

There has been a resurgence of interest in the theme of work, since the end of the Thirty Glorious Years. Initially centered on a few emblematic works, there has emerged in subsequent years, multifaceted forms of expression that do not lend themselves easily to unifying categorisation. However, a specific literariness has emerged on this theme that reflects an originality that is unique within the realm of literary production. Whilst all writers hesitate about the best means to narrate human activities, those who write about work face particular difficulties in defining their position and status. The notion of fiction itself is challenged as it shifts between the domain of the real and the …

Individual baseline behavioral traits predict the resilience phenotype after chronic social defeat

2021

Abstract Chronic social defeat (CSD) has been widely used as a psychosocial stress model in mice, with the magnitude of CSD-induced social avoidance as the major behavioral hallmark of the resilient and susceptible groups. Despite significant progress in the study of the neurobiology of resilient and susceptible mice, the nature and ethological relevance of CSD-induced social avoidance and social approach, particularly measured using a CD1 mouse, needs conceptual clarification. Based on the findings of a recent study revealing substantial individuality in genetically homogeneous inbred mice, we investigated whether certain baseline individual characteristics of male C57BL/6J mice predict th…

Make Fitness Fun: Could Novelty Be the Key Determinant for Physical Activity Adherence?

2020

The benefits of physical activity (PA) are well known and are extensively delineated in the scientific literature. Regular participation in PA, or exercise as its subset (structured, preplanned form of PA), is positively associated with numerous physical and psychological health benefits across all population subgroups (i.e., different age groups, gender, ethnicity, and socioeconomic status) (Paterson and Warburton, 2010; Warburton and Bredin, 2017). The current PA guidelines for adults, proposed by the American College for Sports Medicine and American Heart Association (ACSM/AHA), recommend the accumulation of at least 150 min of moderate intensity aerobic PA per week (Nelson et al., 2007)…

Gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs): Focus on histopathological diagnosis and biomolecular features

2007

Gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) are mesenchymal tumors of the gastrointestinal tract that are believed to originate from a neoplastic transformation of the intestinal pacemaker cells (interstitial cells of Cajal) normally found in the bowel wall or their precursors. Although the microscopic features have been known for a long time, the defining characteristic of GIST is the presence of the cell-surface antigen CD117 (KIT), which is demonstrated by immunohistochemistry. KIT, which is a growth factor transmembrane receptor, is the product of the proto-oncogene c-kit (chromosome 4). Surgical removal remains the only curative treatment for patients with GISTs. Tumor size, mitotic index,…
