Response of transgenic mannitol-producing tobacco plants to water deficit

Transgenic mannitol-producing (+mtlD) and wild type (-mtlD) tobacco plants were exposed to water deficit to test whether mannitol is involved in drought stress protection. Rooted cuttings of -mtlD and +mtlD plants were fully irrigated (100% ET) or received 25% ET for 40 days, followed by 20 days of re-watering. Water deficit reduced RWC of both plant types starting on the 22nd day, total stem length of -mtlD 25% ET already after 11 days, whereas that of +mtlD 25% ET only after 34 days. After 30 days of deficit, a greater percentage of mature foliage was retained by +mtlD 25% ET compared to -mtlD 25% ET. Inter-area oscillations in the 500-kV Vietnamese power system

The paper presents the study of the 500-kV Vietnamese power system. The oscillatory response of the system is analyzed both with a modal analysis and a time domain analysis. The 500-kV system of Vietnam is modeled in details, including all the power plants with the corresponding regulators. The model is developed in collaboration with the Institute of Energy Science IES-VAST of Vietnam and it is validated with the data provided by the National Load Dispatch Centre (NLDC) of Vietnam. Phenotypic tradeoffs between number and size of eggs were tested in three component populations of three marine anisakid nematodes: Anisakis simplex, Pseudoterranova decipiens and Contracaecum osculatum. Body and uterine volumes (as proxies of female size), and egg number, mean egg volume and clutch volume (as descriptors of reproductive output) were measured in 50 females of each species. Celem badania była (1) ocena stopnia przygotowania studentów pielęgniarstwa i położnictwa do egzaminu typu OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examination), (2) poznanie opinii studentów na temat egzaminowania w formie OSCE i (3) poznanie emocji towarzyszących egzaminowi.Materiał i metody. Zbadano 160 (53,33%) studentów kierunku pielęgniarstwo oraz 140 (46,67%) studentów kierunku położnictwo z 5 uczelni medycznych. Zastosowano metodę sondażu diagnostycznego i technikę ankietowania. Artykuł stanowi próbę analizy przejawów empatii w twórczości naukowej i życiu Edyty Stein oraz zwraca uwagę na psychologiczną rolę empatii w rozwoju osobowości. Warto podkreślić znaczenie zarówno samej postaci tej wybitnej uczennicy Husserla, jak i wymowę ekumeniczną jej twórczości.
