Theologie des Alterns. Ein Beitrag von Papst Franziskus
2022
Jana Pawła II (1978–2005), Benedykta XVI (2005–2013) i Franciszka (2013–) troska o człowieka w podeszłym wieku w okolicznościowych przemówieniach, katechezach i homiliach. Zaangażowanie w promocję pozytywnej wizji starości i obronę godności osób starszych jest szczególnie obecne w nauczaniu papieża Franciszka. Celem artykułu była próba ukazania w świetle najnowszych rozważań papieża Franciszka o starości, z okazji ustanowienia 25 lipca 2021 roku …
Effetti del Papillomavirus genitale sulla riproduzione umana
2009
Human papillomaviruses (HPVs) are agents of the most common sexually transmitted disease that can infect both females and males. More than 100 HPV-genotypes are known, of these, 40 genotypes infect the low genital tract. Based on their association with cervical cancer and precursor lesions, genital HPVs can also be grouped to high-risk and low-risk HPV-types. Diagnosis of HPV infection is sometime difficult because the infection is often transient and asymptomatic. High-risk HPV types are more likely to persist than are low-risk HPV types. It’s the inability of the immune system to spontaneously clear HPV that leads to development of precancerous cervical lesions. It is generally assumed th…

Neuropsychological Alterations in Children Affected by Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome
2020
Sleep-related breathing disorders are a group of clinical conditions ranging from habitual snoring to obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) during the lifespan. In children, other risk factors are represented by adenotonsillar hypertrophy, rhinitis, nasal structure alteration, cleft palate, velopharyngeal flap surgery, pharyngeal masses, craniofacial malformations, genetic syndrome (i.e. Down syndrome, Crouzon syndrome, and Apert syndrome), genetic hypoplasia mandibular (i.e. Pierre Robin syndrome, Treacher Collins syndrome, Shy-Drager syndrome, and Cornelia De Lange syndrome), craniofacial traumas, chronic or seasonal rhinitis, asthma, neuromuscular syndromes, brainstem pathologies (i.e.…
An Extremely Rare Case of Disseminated Peritoneal Leiomyomatosis with a Pelvic Leiomyosarcoma and Omental Metastasis after Laparoscopic Morcellation:…
2022
Minimally invasive treatment of uterine fibroids usually requires a power morcellation, which could be associated with several complications. A rare sequela is disseminated peritoneal leiomyomatosis. Indeed, recurrence or metastasis in these cases could be attributed to iatrogenic or under-evaluation of primary tumors, although a subset of cases is a sporadic sample of biological progression. We present an extremely rare case of a patient who underwent laparoscopic morcellation and after 12 years developed a pelvic leiomyosarcoma with two omental metastases, disseminated peritoneal leiomyomatosis with a parasite leiomyoma with bizarre nuclei and a parasite cellular leiomyoma simultaneously.…

Hidden Oscillations In The Closed-Loop Aircraft-Pilot System And Their Prevention
2016
The paper is devoted to studying and prevention of a special kind of oscillations-the Pilot Involved Oscillations (PIOs) which may appear in man-machine closed-loop dynamical systems. The PIO of categories II and III are defined as essentially non-linear unintended steady fluctuations of the piloted aircraft, generated due to pilot efforts to control the aircraft with a high precision. The main non-linear factor leading to the PIO is, generally, rate limitations of the aircraft control surfaces, resulting in a delay in the response of the aircraft to pilot commands. In many cases, these oscillations indicate presence of hidden, rather than self-excited attractors in the aircraft-pilot state…
Folate-targeted gold nanorods for effective combined photothermal-chemotherapy of osteosarcoma
2016
Osteosarcoma (OS) is the most common primary malignant neoplasm of bone. The annual incidence of osteosarcoma is 8-11 per million in the age group of 15-19 years. Despite its rarity, it has been reported to be the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in children and young adults. In particular with regard to OS therapy, a variety of nanostructures have been exploited in the areas of OS imaging. Among them, Gold nanorods (AuNRs) have unique optical and chemical-physical properties that make them appealing for biomedical applications such as photothermal therapy, drug delivery and imaging of solid tumors. The noble metal core is biologically inert, contributing to low toxicity and go…
NIR LASER-RESPONSIVE FOLATE-TARGETED GOLD NANORODS AS EFFICIENT THERANOSTIC TOOL FOR OSTEOSARCOMA TREATMENT
2017
Folate-targeted gold nanorods (GNRs) are here proposed as selective theranostic agents for osteosarcoma treatment. Taking advantage of the attractive physiochemical and optical properties of GNRs they can be proposed as effective and selective platform to obtain a targeted intracellular drug release, photothermal therapy and cancer imaging, which may improve therapeutic outcomes of osteosarcoma. An amphiphilic polysaccharide graft-copolymer, named INU-LA-PEG-FA, and a folic acid functionalized α,β-poly(N-2-hydroxyethyl)-D,L-aspartamide (PHEA-FA), have been synthesized to act as coating agents for GNRs. The obtained polymer-coated GNRs were characterized in terms of size, shape, zeta potenti…
Physical Agent Modalities in Early Osteoarthritis: A Scoping Review
2021
Early osteoarthritis (EOA) still represents a challenge for clinicians. Although there is no consensus on its definition and diagnosis, a prompt therapeutic intervention in the early stages can have a significant impact on function and quality of life. Exercise remains a core treatment for EOA; however, several physical modalities are commonly used in this population. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the role of physical agents in the treatment of EOA. A technical expert panel (TEP) of 8 medical specialists with expertise in physical agent modalities and musculoskeletal conditions performed the review following the PRISMA-ScR (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and …
