SMOS REFLEX 2003: L-band emissivity characterization of vineyards

The goal of the Soil Moisture and Ocean Salinity mission over land is to infer surface soil moisture from multiangular L-band radiometric measurements. As the canopy affects the microwave emission of land, it is necessary to characterize different vegetation layers. This paper presents the Reference Pixel L-Band Experiment (REFLEX), carried out in June-July 2003 at the Vale/spl grave/ncia Anchor Station, Spain, to study the effects of grapevines on the soil emission and on the soil moisture retrieval. Complete 1H and 13C NMR assignments of clerodane diterpenoids of Salvia splendens.

Unambiguous and complete assignments of 1H and 13C NMR chemical shifts for five clerodane diterpenes, four of them isolated from Salvia splendens (salviarin, splendidin and splenolides A and B) and one obtained by acetylation of splenolide A, are presented. The assignments are based on 2D shift-correlated [1H,1H–COSY, 1H,13C-gHSQC–1J(C,H) and 1H,13C-gHMBC-nJ(C,H) (n = 2 and 3)] and nuclear Overhauser effect (NOE) experiments. The conformation of the rings of these compounds is supported by the 3J(H,H) values and NOE results. Copyright © 2006 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

An algorithm based in Ewald's method to calculate lattice sums in the framework of crystal field theory

A simple procedure to help calculate the electrostatic potential at any point inside an ionic crystal is proposed and tested. The rationale for the mathematical algorithm to calculate lattice sums is based on Ewald's technique. The method is discussed with regard to the dimensions and shape of the crystal lattice. Electrostatic potential for NaCl and MgO type structures are obtained and compared with the values calculated by means of Ewald's method

A Restricted-Weakly Connected Dominating Set for Role Assignment in a Multichannel MAC for Wireless Mesh Network

International audience; We propose an efficient way of constructing the wireless mesh structure associated with Molecular MAC, a multichannel access method designed for efficient packet forwarding. We base our role assignment on a restricted Weakly Connected Dominating Set structure. After presenting a formal definition of the role assignment problem, we prove its NP-completeness. Then, we propose a centralized 2-approximation algorithm that maximizes the sum of radio link capacities in the molecular structure. 1D ferrimagnetism in homometallic chains

The magnetic properties of the cobalt zigzag chain Co(bpy)(NCS)2 (bpy=2,2′‐bipyridine) are discussed on the basis of an Ising‐chain model that takes into account alternating Landé factors.
