Domination spaces and factorization of linear and multilinear summing operators
2015
[EN] It is well known that not every summability property for multilinear operators leads to a factorization theorem. In this paper we undertake a detailed study of factorization schemes for summing linear and nonlinear operators. Our aim is to integrate under the same theory a wide family of classes of mappings for which a Pietsch type factorization theorem holds. Our construction includes the cases of absolutely p-summing linear operators, (p, sigma)-absolutely continuous linear operators, factorable strongly p-summing multilinear operators, (p(1), ... , p(n))-dominated multilinear operators and dominated (p(1), ... , p(n); sigma)-continuous multilinear operators.
The fixed point property for mappings admitting a center
2007
Abstract We introduce a class of nonlinear continuous mappings in Banach spaces which allow us to characterize the Banach spaces without noncompact flat parts in their spheres as those that have the fixed point property for this type of mapping. Later on, we give an application to the existence of zeroes for certain kinds of accretive operators.
Some Classes of Operators on Partial Inner Product Spaces
2012
Many families of function spaces, such as $L^{p}$ spaces, Besov spaces, amalgam spaces or modulation spaces, exhibit the common feature of being indexed by one parameter (or more) which measures the behavior (regularity, decay properties) of particular functions. All these families of spaces are, or contain, scales or lattices of Banach spaces and constitute special cases of the so-called \emph{partial inner product spaces (\pip s)} that play a central role in analysis, in mathematical physics and in signal processing (e.g. wavelet or Gabor analysis). The basic idea for this structure is that such families should be taken as a whole and operators, bases, frames on them should be defined glo…
Property (gab) through localized SVEP
2015
In this article we study the property (gab) for a bounded linear operator T 2 L(X) on a Banach space X which is a stronger variant of Browder's theorem. We shall give several characterizations of property (gab). These characterizations are obtained by using typical tools from local spectral theory. We also show that property (gab) holds for large classes of operators and prove the stability of property (gab) under some commuting perturbations. 2010 Mathematics Subject Classication. On the equivalence of McShane and Pettis integrability in non-separable Banach spaces
2009
Abstract We show that McShane and Pettis integrability coincide for functions f : [ 0 , 1 ] → L 1 ( μ ) , where μ is any finite measure. On the other hand, assuming the Continuum Hypothesis, we prove that there exist a weakly Lindelof determined Banach space X, a scalarly null (hence Pettis integrable) function h : [ 0 , 1 ] → X and an absolutely summing operator u from X to another Banach space Y such that the composition u ○ h : [ 0 , 1 ] → Y is not Bochner integrable; in particular, h is not McShane integrable.
Resolvent Estimates for Non-Selfadjoint Operators via Semigroups
2009
We consider a non-selfadjoint h-pseudodifferential operator P in the semiclassical limit (h → 0). If p is the leading symbol, then under suitable assumptions about the behavior of p at infinity, we know that the resolvent (z–P)–1 is uniformly bounded for z in any compact set not intersecting the closure of the range of p. Under a subellipticity condition, we show that the resolvent extends locally inside the range up to a distance \(\mathcal{O}(1)((h\ln \frac{1}{h})^{k/(k + 1)} )\) from certain boundary points, where \(k \in \{ 2,4, \ldots \} \). This is a slight improvement of a result by Dencker, Zworski, and the author, and it was recently obtained by W. Bordeaux Montrieux in a model sit…
On the solutions to 1-Laplacian equation with L1 data
2009
AbstractIn the present paper we study the behaviour, as p goes to 1, of the renormalized solutions to the problems(0.1){−div(|∇up|p−2∇up)=finΩ,up=0on∂Ω, where p>1, Ω is a bounded open set of RN (N⩾2) with Lipschitz boundary and f belongs to L1(Ω). We prove that these renormalized solutions pointwise converge, up to “subsequences,” to a function u. With a suitable definition of solution we also prove that u is a solution to a “limit problem.” Moreover we analyze the situation occurring when more regular data f are considered.
General aggregation operators based on a fuzzy equivalence relation in the context of approximate systems
2016
Our paper deals with special constructions of general aggregation operators, which are based on a fuzzy equivalence relation and provide upper and lower approximations of the pointwise extension of an ordinary aggregation operator. We consider properties of these approximations and explore their role in the context of extensional fuzzy sets with respect to the corresponding equivalence relation. We consider also upper and lower approximations of a t-norm extension of an ordinary aggregation operator. Finally, we describe an approximate system, considering the lattice of all general aggregation operators and the lattice of all fuzzy equivalence relations.
Pietsch's factorization theorem for dominated polynomials
2007
Abstract We prove that, like in the linear case, there is a canonical prototype of a p -dominated homogeneous polynomial through which every p -dominated polynomial between Banach spaces factors.
Bounded elements of C*-inductive locally convex spaces
2013
The notion of bounded element of C*-inductive locally convex spaces (or C*-inductive partial *-algebras) is introduced and discussed in two ways: The first one takes into account the inductive structure provided by certain families of C*-algebras; the second one is linked to the natural order of these spaces. A particular attention is devoted to the relevant instance provided by the space of continuous linear maps acting in a rigged Hilbert space.
