Coupled common fixed point theorems in partially ordered G-metric spaces for nonlinear contractions

2014

The aim of this paper is to prove coupled coincidence and coupled common fixed point theorems for a mixed $g$-monotone mapping satisfying nonlinear contractive conditions in the setting of partially ordered $G$-metric spaces. Present theorems are true generalizations of the recent results of Choudhury and Maity [Math. Comput. Modelling 54 (2011), 73-79], and Luong and Thuan [Math. Comput. Modelling 55 (2012) 1601-1609].

A Hake-Type Theorem for Integrals with Respect to Abstract Derivation Bases in the Riesz Space Setting

2015

Abstract A Kurzweil-Henstock type integral with respect to an abstract derivation basis in a topological measure space, for Riesz space-valued functions, is studied. A Hake-type theorem is proved for this integral, by using technical properties of Riesz spaces.

Coupled fixed point theorems for multi-valued nonlinear contraction mappings in partially ordered metric spaces

2011

Abstract In this paper, we establish two coupled fixed point theorems for multi-valued nonlinear contraction mappings in partially ordered metric spaces. The theorems presented extend some results due to Ciric (2009) [3] . An example is given to illustrate the usability of our results.

Multiple solutions of second order Hamiltonian systems

2017

Author(s): Bonanno, G; Livrea, R; Schechter, M | Abstract: The existence and the multiplicity of periodic solutions for a parameter dependent second order Hamiltonian system are established via linking theorems. A monotonicity trick is adopted in order to prove the existence of an open interval of parameters for which the problem under consideration admits at least two non trivial qualified solutions.

Monotonicity and total boundednessin spaces of measurable functions

2017

Abstract We define and study the moduli d(x, 𝓐, D) and i(x, 𝓐,D) related to monotonicity of a given function x of the space L 0(Ω) of real-valued “measurable” functions defined on a linearly ordered set Ω. We extend the definitions to subsets X of L 0(Ω), and we use the obtained quantities, d(X) and i(X), to estimate the Hausdorff measure of noncompactness γ(X) of X. Compactness criteria, in special cases, are obtained.

Green’s function and existence of solutions for a third-order three-point boundary value problem

2019

The solutions of third-order three-point boundary value problem x‘‘‘ + f(t, x) = 0, t ∈ [a, b], x(a) = x‘(a) = 0, x(b) = kx(η), where η ∈ (a, b), k ∈ R, f ∈ C([a, b] × R, R) and f(t, 0) ≠ 0, are the subject of this investigation. In order to establish existence and uniqueness results for the solutions, attention is focused on applications of the corresponding Green’s function. As an application, also one example is given to illustrate the result. Keywords: Green’s function, nonlinear boundary value problems, three-point boundary conditions, existence and uniqueness of solutions.

Existence of a unique solution for a third-order boundary value problem with nonlocal conditions of integral type

2021

The existence of a unique solution for a third-order boundary value problem with integral condition is proved in several ways. The main tools in the proofs are the Banach fixed point theorem and the Rus’s fixed point theorem. To compare the applicability of the obtained results, some examples are considered.

Existence results for $L^1$ data of some quasi-linear parabolic problems with a quadratic gradient term and source

2002

In this paper we deal with a Cauchy–Dirichlet quasilinear parabolic problem containing a gradient lower order term; namely, ut - Δu + |u|2 γ-2u |∇u|2 = |u|p-2u. We prove that if p ≥ 1, γ ≥ ½ and p < 2 γ + 2, then there exists a global weak solution for all initial data in L1 (Ω). We also see that there exists a non-negative solution if the initial datum is non-negative.

Homopolymer adsorption on periodically structured surfaces in systems with incommensurable lengths

2013

Surface-induced selective adsorption of homopolymers on a generic level is numerically analyzed for freely jointed chains (with a fixed bond length) whose monomers are attracted by the sites of regular periodic patterns. In particular, the behavior of the specific heat, the gyration tensor, and the bond order tensor are investigated as functions of the temperature. The properties of the transition are related to the interplay of the characteristic lengths. The adsorption proceeds in two steps for certain incommensurabilities of the bond length and the lattice constant. The corresponding adsorption mechanisms are elucidated by looking at the evolution of the inter bond angle distribution upo…
