Discrimination of serial auditory patterns in rats : roles of configural and elemental associations

In order to test whether rats could discriminate between tone sequences, food deprived rats were given appetitive discrimination conditioning with repeated ascending or descending series of musical notes serving as conditioned stimuli (CSs). The other type of tone sequence was reinforced as the other was followed by nothing. In Experiment 1, each series of 8 tones formed a 2 s cycle. The cycle was repeated six times so that the duration of the whole sequence was 12 s. In Experiment 2, the CSs were similar to those in Experiment 1 except that they started with a random note. I monasteri furono fondati da famiglie del ceto cavalleresco nella prima metà del Trecento nella città di Palermo, che aveva perso centralità politica per l’assenza del re. Single parameter estimation is known to benefit from extreme sensitivity to parameter changes in quantum critical systems. However, the simultaneous estimation of multiple parameters is generally limited due to the incompatibility arising from the quantum nature of the underlying system. A key question is whether quantum criticality may also play a positive role in reducing the incompatibility in the simultaneous estimation of multiple parameters. The chick's immune system is, at that early stage still immature and inefficient. As a consequence, diseases can have a strong impact on chick survival.2. Genome rearrangement distances and gene order phylogeny in gamma-Proteobacteria.

Genome rearrangements have been studied in 30 gamma-proteobacterial complete genomes by comparing the order of a reduced set of genes on the chromosome. This set included those genes fulfilling several characteristics, the main ones being that an ortholog was present in every genome and that none of them had been acquired by horizontal gene transfer. Genome rearrangement distances were estimated based on either the number of breakpoints or the minimal number of inversions separating two genomes.
