Nanocomplexes for gene therapy of respiratory diseases: Targeting and overcoming the mucus barrier

Gene therapy, i.e. the delivery and expression of therapeutic genes, holds great promise for congenital and acquired respiratory diseases. Non-viral vectors are less toxic and immunogenic than viral vectors, although they are characterized by lower efficiency. However, they have to overcome many barriers, including inflammatory and immune mediators and cells. The respiratory and airway epithelial cells, the main target of these vectors, are coated with a layer of mucus, which hampers the effective reaching of gene therapy vectors carrying either plasmid DNA or small interfering RNA. Dzeltena un zila filtra ietekme uz stimula atpazīšanas reakcijas laiku dažādās ekscentritātēs

Maģistra darbs ir uzrakstīts latviešu valodā uz 36 lapaspusēm. Tas satur 22 attēlus, 6 tabulas, 33 atsauces uz literatūras avotiem. Darba mērķis: Ar testa palīdzību novērtēt kā mainās stimula atpazīšanas reakcijas laiks dažādās ekscentritātēs, izmantojot dzeltenu un zilu filtru. Dalībnieki: Eksperimentā piedalījās 12 dalībnieki, vecuma grupā no 22 līdz 25 gadu vecumam. Pētījuma dalībniekiem nebija nopietnas acu saslimšanas un traumas, kas varētu būtiski ietekmēt rezultātus. Darbā tiek pētīti tādi jautājumi kā iespējamie ierobežojumi ārkārtējās situācijas pagarināšanas termiņam, vai ārkārtas situācija var būt par pamatu cilvēka pamattiesību ierobežošanai un kā Latvijā tiek realizēta cilvēku pamattiesību ievērošana kontekstā ar Covid-19 ārkārtējās situācijas laikā pieņemtajiem ierobežojumiem. The role of the Krauss’s organ in sound production in Pamphagidae (Caelifera: Orthoptera).

In Pamphagidae, the Krauss’s organ is located on both sides of the 2nd tergite and its function is superficially known. It has been proposed to have a stridulatory function. This organ can be found in all Pamphagidae except the apterous genera. Rearing specimens of some species and observing mounted pamphagids allowed the author to observe that when the Krauss’s organ is absent (most apterous species) the tympanum is also absent; further, he discovered specialized stridulatory structures on hind femurs of some taxa for sound emission. At least 95 species of Pamphagidae belonging to 17 genera are known in North Africa. Taxonomic status is fairly known, with some exception, mainly due to scarcity of available specimens of some genera in museums and collections. In this paper, the author proposes a new key to genera and reports the annotated list of all the known species, based on specimens examined in different European museums. Nel saggio in questione viene proposto un inedito parallelo fra l’inno che Troiolo indirizza alla dea Venere, nel «Filostrato» di Giovanni Boccaccio (Filostr. 3.74-89) e l’inno che Panfilo, nella commedia elegiaca «Pamphilus», indirizza alla stessa dea dell’amore (Pamph. 1-70). Oltre a fornire una puntuale analisi dei punti di contatto fra i due testi, vengono inoltre avanzate alcune considerazioni sul valore e il significato che la figura della dea Venere assume nelle opere del Boccaccio.
