Construction of the client in physiotherapy student's practical learning sessions: a discourse analytic study
2008
In recent years, there has been a tendency to stress the active role and equal partnership of clients in social and healthcare. Moreover, research in the role of clients has attracted growing interest. Clinical education has been seen as an excellent arena for learning the distinctiveness of the interaction between the client and the professional physiotherapist by giving students the chance to participate in actual healthcare encounters. This study focuses on examining the construction of various client roles through interactions between participants in practical learning sessions that physiotherapy students took part in. These sessions were real professional physiotherapy encounters. Qual…
Paving the way of systems biology and precision medicine in allergic diseases: The MeDALL success story
2016
MeDALL Mechanisms of the Development of ALLergy; EU FP7-CP-IP; Project No: 261357; 20 (10) -2015 proposed an innovative approach to develop early indicators for the prediction, diagnosis, prevention and targets for therapy(.) MeDALL linked epidemiological, clinical and basic research using a stepwise, large-scale and integrative approach: precisely phenotyped children followed in 14 birth cohorts spread across Europe were combined with systems biology omics, IgE measurement using micro-arrays and environmental data(.) Multimorbidity in the same child is more common than expected by chance alone, suggesting that these diseases share causal mechanisms irrespective of IgE sensitisation(.) IgE …
Institutional Learning in North–South Partnerships: Critical Self-Reflection on Collaboration Between Finnish and Tanzanian Academics
2020
Knowledge production and its possibilities and pitfalls in North-South research partnerships have gained increasing attention. The previous literature has identified certain pervasive challenges, and suggested a variety of ways to change partnerships, ranging from improvement of current collaboration activities to fundamental transformation of the hegemonic Eurocentric criteria for knowledge. Against this backdrop, we ask what kinds of learning can take place in research partnerships. We draw from two sources – an institutional approach and a classical categorization of learning proposed by Gregory Bateson – to develop a heuristic for analyzing institutional learning in North-South research…
Yhteiskunnallinen yritys, erehdys ja arviointi : tapaus Mäntänvuoren Terveys Oy
2015
Arviointi on tutkielmassa toteutettu yhden esimerkkitapauksen, Mäntänvuoren Terveys Oy:n, kautta. Aineistona tutkielmassa on käytetty haastatteluin kerättyä tutkimusmateriaalia sekä huolella koottua dokumenttiaineistoa ja näitä on analysoitu rinnakkain sisällön analyysin keinoin. Haastattelut on toteutettu teemahaastattelun keinoin käyttäen kaikkien haastateltavien kohdalla samaa teemahaastattelurunkoa. Teemahaastattelu valikoitui metodi…
Partnership formation and dissolution over the life course: applying sequence analysis and event history analysis in the study of recurrent events
2015
We present two types of approach to the analysis of recurrent events for discretely measured data, and show how these methods can complement each other when analysing co-residential partnership histories. Sequence analysis is a descriptive tool that gives an overall picture of the data and helps to find typical and atypical patterns in histories. Event history analysis is used to make conclusions about the effects of covariates on the timing and duration of the partnerships. As a substantive question, we studied how family background and childhood socio-emotional characteristics were related to later partnership formation and stability in a Finnish cohort born in 1959. We found that high se…
2021
There is a question: should partnerships which are regulated in the Code of Commercial Companies have the division ability? De lege lata only capital companies (Art. 528 § 1 of the Code of Commercial Companies and Partnerships) are subject to the division procedure. Admission to the division of partnerships is possible only by decision of the legislator. The division of certain partnerships will, however, be possible in the Polish legal system after the directive (EU) 2019/2121 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 November 2019, amending Directive (EU) 2017/1132 is emended
