Intraoperative alteration of the total clearance of ascorbic acid in plasma
2003
Ascorbic acid (AA) is an important antioxidant in the plasma and has the tendency to postoperatively reduced values. This could be caused by an increased antioxidative activity of AA as a radical scavenger since operations are a well-known scenario of oxidative stress with increased radical production. There is some evidence for an intraoperative onset of oxidative stress which could be related to an increased antioxidative activity of AA. Therefore, the total clearance (Cltot) of AA was calculated pre- and intraoperatively in 20 neurosurgical patients. At both times plasma samples were taken before, and 15, 30, 60 and 120 minutes after an iv. AA-bolus of 4 mg/kg AA/body weight. Cltot of AA…
Caractérisation des tôles Fer-Silicium en régime dynamique pulsant
1992
Using a characterization method based on the Epstein's frame principle, we study the evolution of the magnetic and losses characteristics of NO Fe-Si sheets with respect to the fundamental frequency, the temperature and the wave front under time-variable sinusoidal or constant wave front trapezoidal magnetic flux density. At last, we modelise the evolution of the iron losses with respect to these parameters, except the temperature
Propagation failure in discrete bistable reaction-diffusion systems: Theory and experiments
2001
International audience; Wave front propagation failure is investigated in discrete bistable reaction-diffusion systems. We present a theoretical approach including dissipative effects and leading to an analytical expression of the critical coupling beyond which front propagation can occur as a function of the nonlinearity threshold parameter. Our theoretical predictions are confirmed by numerical simulations and experimental results on an equivalent electrical diffusive lattice.
Different Behaviour of Plasma Antioxidant Status after Red Wine Consumption in Subjects of the Same Sex: A Preliminary Report
2012
<p>Several studies report that the plasma antioxidant capacity (PAC) increases after a single ingestion of red wine. However, data on the different behaviour of PAC after food intake in subjects of the same sex are still lacking. On the basis of these observations some investigations were undertaken in order to evaluate the effects of red wine intake on PAC in a homogeneous groups of healthy female volunteers (n=18). Additionally, the possible correlation between increase of PAC values and increase in uric acid levels was also assessed. PAC and uric acid concentrations were determined before wine intake and 50, 120 and 240 minutes thereafter. The results obtained following these studi…
Analysis of Contaminants in Beverages
2019
Abstract The main purpose of our researches, in the last years, was to develop reliable methods for the determination of emerging and old contaminants (Pt, Rh, V, Mo, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), etc.), at trace levels, in the solutions obtained from the mineralization or extraction of environmental and food matrices, because, in particular for metals, some of them cannot be readily analyzed using traditional method, for example, inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectrometry and inductively coupled plasma with mass spectrometry techniques. Few data are available on the evaluations of Pt, Rh, V, and Mo concentrations, in food matrices, because have ever been carried ou…
Searching the most appropriate sample pretreatment for the elemental analysis of wines by inductively coupled plasma-based techniques.
2008
Different sample preparation methods were evaluated for the simultaneous multielement analysis of wine samples by inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES) and inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). Microwave-assisted digestion in closed vessel, thermal digestion in open reactor, and direct sample dilution were considered for the determination of Li, Be, Na, Mg, Al, K, Ca, Sc, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, As, Se, Sr, Y, Mo, Cd, Ba, La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb, Lu, Tl, Pb, and Bi in 12 samples of red wine from Valencia and Utiel-Requena protected designation of origin. ICP-MS allows the determination of 17 elements in most…
Elemental fingerprint of wines from the protected designation of origin Valencia
2009
Abstract Inductively coupled plasma optical emission (ICP-OES), in combination with different chemometric approaches, has been used to verify the origin of different red wine samples from Utiel-Requena, Jumilla, Yecla and Valencia protected designation of origin (PDO). The ability of multivariate analysis methods, such as hierarchical cluster analysis (HCA), principal component analysis (PCA), classification and regression trees (CARTs) and discriminant analysis (DA), to achieve wine classification from their elemental contents has been investigated. The calculations were performed using 38 variables (contents of Al, Ba, Be, Ca, Cd, Ce, Co, Cr, Cu, Dy, Er, Eu, Fe, Gd, Ho, K, La, Li, Lu, Mg,…
