Scattering theory for a class of fermionic Pauli–Fierz models

2004

Abstract The scattering theory for a class of fermionic Pauli–Fierz models is considered. We give a proof of the asymptotic completeness of the dynamics in the case of massive fermions. The result applied to the Hamiltonian of a quantized spin- 1 2 Dirac particle interacting with an external field through a cutoff Yukawa interaction and to the Hamiltonian of a system of finitely many confined particles coupled to a fermionic field with a quadratic interaction.

Boundary/Field Variational Principles for the Elastic Plastic Rate Problem

1991

An elastic-plastic continuous solid body under quasi-statically variable external actions is herein addressed in the hypoteses of rate-independent material model with dual internal variables and of infinitesimal displacements and strains. The related analysis problem for assigned rate actions is first formulated through a boundary/field integral equation approach, then is shown to be characterized by two variational principles, one of which is a stationarity theorem, the other a min-max one.

Orientation and Crystallinity Measurements in Film Casting Products

2003

Film casting experiments were carried out with iPP under processing conditions causing the crystallization process to occur under orienting flow. Draw ratio and cooling rates were changed by varying mass flow rates and die thickness. The effect of processing conditions on film crystallinity was investigated by combining WAXS and FT-IR transmission methods, while orientation of both phases was measured by IR dichroism (according to Fraser's method) and successfully compared to birefringence measurements on final films. Crystallinity appears to be almost insensitive to draw ratio and cooling rate. Moreover the crystallinity profile turned out to be also constant along the transverse film dire…

Improvement of membrane performances to enhance the yield of vanillin in a pervaporation reactor.

2014

In membrane reactors, the interaction of reaction and membrane separation can be exploited to achieve a “process intensification”, a key objective of sustainable development. In the present work, the properties that the membrane must have to obtain this result in a pervaporation reactor are analyzed and discussed. Then, the methods to enhance these properties are investigated for the photocatalytic synthesis of vanillin, which represents a case where the recovery from the reactor of vanillin by means of pervaporation while it is produced allows a substantial improvement of the yield, since its further oxidation is thus prevented. To this end, the phenomena that control the permeation of bot…

On the Review of structure and effectiveness of the IFRS Foundation : the EAAs Financial Reporting Standards Committees view

2016

AbstractIn July 2015 the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) Foundation launched its third five year review of its structure and effectiveness of the organisation. In a public call, the Trustees solicited stakeholders’ input on the relevance of IFRS Standards with respect to broadening the IFRS scope and to the impact of new technology, on the consistent application of IFRS and on the governance and funding of the International Accounting Standards Board and the IFRS Foundation. The European Accounting Association (EAA)’s Financial Reporting Standards Committee responded to this request for views by submitting a comment letter based on research-informed opinions. This article…

2022

Spēles dizaina principu un spēles elementu izmantošana pašvadītas mācīšanās prasmju pilnveidei fizikā vidusskolā. Marta Britāla, darba vadītāja doc. Dr.phys. Inese Dudareva. Bakalaura darbs.

A Feature Rich Distance-Based Many-Objective Visualisable Test Problem Generator

2019

In optimiser analysis and design it is informative to visualise how a search point/population moves through the design space over time. Visualisable distance-based many-objective optimisation problems have been developed whose design space is in two-dimensions with arbitrarily many objective dimensions. Previous work has shown how disconnected Pareto sets may be formed, how problems can be projected to and from arbitrarily many design dimensions, and how dominance resistant regions of design space may be defined. Most recently, a test suite has been proposed using distances to lines rather than points. However, active use of visualisable problems has been limited. This may be because the ty…

Investigation of the Cooling of Hot Walls by Liquid Water Sprays

1999

An experimental study was conducted for the heat transfer from hot walls to liquid water sprays. Four full cone, swirl spray nozzles were used at different upstream pressures, giving mass fluxes impinging on the wall, G, from 8 to 80 kg m(-2) s(-1), mean droplet velocities, U, from 13 to 28 m s(-1) and mean droplet diameters, D, from 0.4 to 2.2 mm. A target consisting of two slabs of beryllium-copper alloy, each 4 x 5 cm in size and 1.1 mm thick, was electrically heated to about 300 degrees C and then rapidly and symmetrically cooled by water sprays issuing from two identical nozzles. The midplane temperature was measured by a fast response, thin-foil thermocouple and the experimental data …
