Cavity Control of Excitons in Two-Dimensional Materials

We propose a robust and efficient way of controlling the optical spectra of two-dimensional materials and van der Waals heterostructures by quantum cavity embedding. The cavity light-matter coupling leads to the formation of exciton-polaritons, a superposition of photons and excitons. Our first principles study demonstrates a reordering and mixing of bright and dark excitons spectral features and in the case of a type II van-der-Waals heterostructure an inversion of intra and interlayer excitonic resonances. 2-D mapping of skin chromophores in the spectral range 500 - 700 nm

The multi-spectral imaging technique has been used for distant mapping of in-vivo skin chromophores by analyzing spectral data at each reflected image pixel and constructing 2-D maps of the relative concentrations of oxy-/deoxy-haemoglobin and melanin. Instead of using a broad visible-NIR spectral range, this study focuses on narrowed spectral band 500–700 nm, speeding-up the signal processing procedure. We study the control of finite dimensional quantum systems by external laser fields. After examining the concrete example of the diatomic molecular alignment in dissipative media, we are interested in the problem of optimal control, where the objective is to bring the system from an initial state into a given final state while minimizing a cost functional. The Pontryagin maximum principle (PMP) provides necessary conditions for optimality, by establishing that any optimal trajectory is the extremal solution of an extended problem of Hamiltonian structure. Fractional-order nonlinear hereditariness of tendons and ligaments of the human knee

In this paper the authors introduce a nonlinear model of fractional-order hereditariness used to capture experimental data obtained on human tendons of the knee. Creep and relaxation data on fibrous tissues have been obtained and fitted with logarithmic relations that correspond to power-laws with nonlinear dependence of the coefficients. The use of a proper nonlinear transform allows one to use Boltzmann superposition in the transformed variables yielding a fractional-order model for the nonlinear material hereditariness.
