INTRODUCTION: The aim of this study was to explore social and emotional functions in patients with medial frontal damage including the anterior cingulate cortex (ACC). METHODS: Three patients with medial frontal lobe lesions primarily involving the ACC performed tasks on motivational decision making, emotional facial expression recognition, and social cognition, including theory of mind (ToM). Their performance on these tasks was compared with age and education matched healthy controls. Self‐esteem mediates the associations among negative affect, body disturbances, and interpersonal problems in treatment‐seeking obese individuals

Background: This study investigated the relationship among negative affect, body image disturbances (BID), and interpersonal problems, and the mediat- ing effect of self-esteem in a group of treatment-seeking obese individuals. Methods: Four hundred twenty-two obese patients (85 males and 337 females) completed standardised measures that assessed negative affect, BID, self-esteem, and interpersonal problems. This study examined the relationships among the group process measured by the Group Climate Questionnaire, the Cohesion to the Therapist Scale and Cohesion to the Group Scale, and the Curative Climate Instrument to explore higher order factors that explained the group relationship in a sample of 91 female university students attending six interpersonal growth groups. Furthermore, the study examined how group members' attachment dimensions, anxiety, and avoidance were associated to their perceptions of the group relationship. Dusmas un agresija vardarbību pārcietušiem jauniešiem un dusmu pārvaldīšanas programmas efektivitāte Rezumējums (Abstract) Pētījuma mērķis bija noteikt saistību starp pārciestas vardarbības pieredzi, dusmām un agresiju 16-18 gadīgiem jauniešiem, kā arī izpētīt divu rehabilitācijas programmu efektivitāti. Promocijas darba mērķis bija pārbaudīt saistības starp suicīda mēģinājumiem (SM), suicidalitāti, depresijas simptomiem (DS), disociatīvo traucējumu simptomiem, bērnības vardarbības pieredzes veidiem, prognozējošos faktorus, mediācijas efektu un disociatīvās depresijas apakštipa pastāvēšanu. Pētījumā piedalījās 342 respondenti: 138 ar diagnosticētu depresiju (DG), 204 vispārējā grupa (VG). Promocijas darbā veikta jaunāko pētījumu analīze par pirmsskolas vecuma bērnu eksternalizētās uzvedības problēmām un par mātes – bērna mijiedarbību. Analizētas galvenās teorētiskās pieejas, kas ir būtiskas, lai mainītu esošos mijiedarbības modeļus starp māti un bērnu. Īpaši uzsvērta Marte Meo terapija, jo pētījuma rezultāti norāda, ka bērniem, kuru vecāki saņēma šo terapiju, mazinājās eksternalizēto uzvedības problēmu izteiktība pēc viņu māšu vērtējuma. Bija vērojama būtiska izaugsme māšu atbalstošajā uzvedībā. Arī pēc četru mēnešu laika perioda pozitīvās izmaiņas mātes atbalstošajā uzvedībā bija stabilas un bija novērojami daudz labāki mijiedarbības brīži starp mātēm un viņu bērniem. Atslē…
