Supportive Parenting Buffers the Effects of Low Peer Acceptance on Children’s Internalizing Problem Behaviors

Background Children who are not accepted in their peer group are at risk of developing internalizing problem behaviors. It is possible, however, that supportive parenting can provide a buffer against the detrimental effects of low peer acceptance. Objective This study examined maternal and paternal affection and psychological control as moderators of the association between children’s peer acceptance during the critical transition to primary school and level and subsequent development of internalizing problem behaviors from first to sixth grade. Rodzicielstwo zastępcze w powiecie kędzierzyńsko-kozielskim

W artykule przedstawiono działania powiatu kędzierzyńsko-kozielskiego realizowane w ramach projektów na rzecz tworzenia i wsparcia rodzin zastępczych. Zaprezentowano także wyniki badań empirycznych dotyczących czynników osobowych warunkujących poziom zaangażowania ojców zastępczych w realizację rodzicielskiej działalności w rodzinnych domach dziecka, obejmujących swym zasięgiem m.in. powiat kędzierzyńsko- -kozielski. W podsumowaniu zaakcentowano zasadność podejmowanych inicjatyw przyczyniających się do wypracowania efektywnych form pozyskiwania rodzin zastępczych oraz podniesienia jakości ich funkcjonowania i w konsekwencji poprawy sytuacji dziecka w pieczy zastępczej.

Parental Support and Objectively Measured Physical Activity in Children : A Yearlong Cluster-Randomized Controlled Efficacy Trial

Purpose: We studied whether physical activity (PA) counseling for parents influenced the level of parental support of children’s PA and leisure-time PA in children of different levels of initial parental support. We hypothesized that the initial level of parental support would moderate the intervention efficacy. Method: Children (n = 44, Mage = 6.09 ± 1.17 years) and their parents (n = 61) randomly assigned to an intervention group received counseling for 6 months. Children in the control group (n = 47, Mage = 6.12 ± 1.11 years) and their parents (n = 63) did not receive any counseling.
