The Large Observatory For x-ray Timing (LOFT) was studied within ESA M3 Cosmic Vision framework and participated in the final down-selection for a launch slot in 2022-2024. Thanks to the unprecedented combination of effective area and spectral resolution of its main instrument, LOFT will study the behaviour of matter under extreme conditions, such as the strong gravitational field in the innermost regions of accretion flows close to black holes and neutron stars, and the supra-nuclear densities in the interior of neutron stars. Bladder urothelial carcinoma is typically a disease of older individuals and rarely occurs below the age of 40 years. There is debate and uncertainty in the literature regarding the clinicopathologic and prognostic characteristics of bladder urothelial neoplasms in younger patients compared with older patients, although no consistent age criteria have been used to define "younger" age group categories. Wybór ścieżki kształcenia to jedna z najważniejszych decyzji w życiu zawodowym człowieka, w wyniku której ponosi on liczne konsekwencje. Z takim wyborem borykają się uczniowie kończący szkołę podstawową. W tak młodym wieku (14‒15 lat), podjęcie właściwej decyzji wymaga dużej dojrzałości. Wielu młodych ludzi nie jest na to gotowych. Dlatego też nastolatkowie kierują się po pomoc w stronę swoich najbliższych, do których mają zaufanie i zawsze mogą liczyć na rzeczową rozmowę i radę. Młodzi ludzie mogą też otrzymać wsparcie ze strony szkolnych doradców zawodowych.

Tradicionālais zināšanu skaidrojums, kas definē zināšanas kā pamatotu patiesu uzskatu, ir izrādījies nepietiekams. Edmunds Getjērs un citi epistemologi, kas sekojuši Getjēram pa pēdām, ir parādījuši, ka ir iespējami daudzi dažādi gadījumi, kur, neskatoties uz to, ka zināšanu subjektam ir pamatots patiess uzskats, nevar teikt, ka šim subjektam ir kādas zināšanas. Meklējot stingrāku, stabilāku zināšanu definīciju, parādījās daudz un dažādi atrisinājumi, tomēr neviens no tiem nav izrādījies pietiekams iepretim Getjēra piemēriem. Šis darbs apraksta un analīzē trīsdaļīgās zināšanu teorijas aizsākumus, problēmas, kā arī to veidojošās daļas.
Browning-induced changes in trophic functioning of planktonic food webs in temperate and boreal lakes: insights from fatty acids

AbstractThe effects of lake browning on trophic functioning of planktonic food webs are not fully understood. We studied the effects of browning on the response patterns of polyunsaturated fatty acids and n−3/n−6 ratio in seston and compared them between boreal and temperate lakes. We also compared the regional differences and the effects of lake browning on the reliance of zooplankton on heterotrophic microbial pathways and the mass fractions of eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) in zooplankton. Glaukomas ārstēšana un tās ārstēšanai izmantoto medikamentu aprite aptiekās

Maģistra darba mērķis bija pētīt glaukomas ārstēšanu un tās ārstēšanai izmantoto medikamentu apriti aptiekās. Maģistra darbā aprakstīts glaukomas saslimšanas risks, tās diagnostika. Lielākā riska faktora – intraokulārā spiediena ietekme uz glaukomas progresiju, kā arī tā samazināšanas iespējas. Aprakstīti Latvijā pieejamie medikamenti gan monoterapijai, gan kombinētai terapijai ar fiksētu aktīvās vielas koncentrāciju. Iegūtie rezultāti liecina, ka glaukomas ārstēšanai visbiežāk izmanto monoterapijas medikamentus – 56,9%, bet fiksētas kombinācijas medikamentus 43,1%. Glaukomas medikamentu tirdzniecībā nav novērojama sezonalitāte. Visi pacienti ar glaukomas diagnozi medikamentus saņem ar 100%…

Bakalaura darbs „Latvijas apģērbu modes zīmolu komunikācija sociālajos tīklos” ir izstrādāts ar mērķi, lai noskaidrot kā Latvijas apģērbu modes zīmoli komunicē ar saviem patērētājiem sociālajos tīklos, cik šiem zīmoliem šī komunikācija ir svarīga un kā šo komunikāciju vērtē modes zīmolu sekotāji. Darbā veikta teorētisko nostādņu apkopošana, bet darba metodoloģijā apskatītas izmantotās pētniecības metodes. Empīriskajā daļā tiek aprakstīti pētījuma rezultāti, bet darba beigās tiek veikti secinājumi. Purpose: To describe the distribution of intraocular pressure (IOP) and central corneal thickness (CCT) in an old French population. Methods: About 9000 individuals 65 years and older were included in the 3C cohort study since 1999 in 3 French cities (Bordeaux, Dijon and Montpellier). In Dijon, an additional ophthalmic examination was performed 10 years after the initial inclusions to assess the relation between systemic age-related diseases and eye diseases in the MONTRACHET Study (Maculopathy Optic Nerve nuTRition neurovAsCular and HEarT diseases).
