Spatial recurrence strategies reveal different routes to Turing pattern formation in chemical systems

We analyze the temporal evolution of hexagonal Turing patterns in two Belousov–Zhabotinsky reactions performed in water-in-oil reverse micro-emulsions under different experimental conditions. The two reactions show different routes to pattern formation through localized spots and through a self replication mechanism. The Generalized Recurrence Plot (GRP) and the Generalized Recurrence Quantification Analysis (GRQA) are used for the investigation of spatial patterns and clearly reveal the different routes leading to the formation of stationary Turing structures.
Theoretical results on the double positron decay of 106Cd

Abstract Theoretical results for the double positron decay of 106 Cd are presented. The calculated values for the lateral single-beta-decay feeding patterns and electromagnetic transitions leading to states in 106 Cd and 106 Pd are discussed and compared to the data. The results on the double positron decay of 106 Cd are compared to new experimental limits. Based on the results of the present calculations, we report on the possibility of detecting the EC/EC or the β + /EC decay modes to final J π =0 + states using the improved sensitivity of the planned measurements.

Image Colorization Method Using Texture Descriptors and ISLIC Segmentation

We present a new colorization method to assign color to a grayscale image based on a reference color image using texture descriptors and Improved Simple Linear Iterative Clustering (ISLIC). Firstly, the pixels of images are classified using Support Vector Machine (SVM) according to texture descriptors, mean luminance, entropy, homogeneity, correlation, and local binary pattern (LBP) features. The use of maiolica bricks as artefact for surface decoration is widespread both in monumental and ordinary architectures in the Mediterranean regions, harmonizing the local construction traditions with the Islamic influences. This study presents an in-depth analysis of examples of spires and domes in Sicily featuring earthenware maiolica cladding serving both as decoration and structural element. Due to the limited knowledge of these artefacts, incautious construction operations led to an alteration of their material and technical features, putting at risk a centuries-old heritage. This paper discusses international student mobility (ISM) in Southern-Latin Europe, specifically Italy, Portugal, and Spain, analysing the inflow of international students as reflected in the UNESCO, OECD and European Commission databases. Only recently Italy, Portugal and Spain, as latecomers, have become more actively involved in ISM dynamics. This trend has been a response to EU pressures to internationalization, instrumented through the consolidation of the Bologna process and the need to build a common space of higher education. There are numerous studies that support the interest of starting the development of algebraic thinking in Primary School. In this paper, we present a part of a research project aimed to explore the processes of solution of geometric pattern problems by students in Primary grades 4th to 6th. We analyze the behavior of students who were administered a teaching unit based on the resolution of this type of problems in the GeoPattern application, created by the authors for this purpose.
