On-line Coordination in Complex Goal-directed Movements: a Matter of Interactions between Several Loops.

2012

International audience; Motor flexibility is the ability to rapidly modify behavior when unexpected perturbations occur. In goal directed movements, this process may be involved during the motor execution itself, by using on-line motor corrections, or off-line, on a trial-by-trial basis. A consensus has emerged to describe and unify these two dependant processes within the framework of the internal models theory in which the cerebellum is involved in error processing. However, this general framework may be incomplete to describe on-line motor corrections when complex motor coordination is involved in the task. In particular, interaction torques existing between different effectors limit the…

Dimension Estimation in Two-Dimensional PCA

2021

We propose an automated way of determining the optimal number of low-rank components in dimension reduction of image data. The method is based on the combination of two-dimensional principal component analysis and an augmentation estimator proposed recently in the literature. Intuitively, the main idea is to combine a scree plot with information extracted from the eigenvectors of a variation matrix. Simulation studies show that the method provides accurate estimates and a demonstration with a finger data set showcases its performance in practice. peerReviewed

The Kuratowski convergence and connected components

2012

International audience; We investigate the Kuratowski convergence of the connected components of the sections of a definable set applying the result obtained to semialgebraic approximation of subanalytic sets. We are led to some considerations concerning the connectedness of the limit set in general. We discuss also the behaviour of the dimension of converging sections and prove some general facts about the Kuratowski convergence in tame geometry.

Argumentation graphs with constraint-based reasoning for collaborative expertise

2018

International audience; Collaborative processes are very important in telemedicine domain since they allow for making right decisions in complex situations with multidisciplinary staff. When modelling these collaborative processes, some inconsistencies can appear. In semantic modelling (conceptual graphs), these inconsistencies are verified using constraints. In this work, collaborative processes are represented using an argumentation system modelled in a conceptual graph formalism where inconsistencies could be particular bad attack relation between arguments. To overcome these inconsistencies, two solutions are proposed. The first one is to weight the arguments evolving in the argumentati…

Reliable Planar Object Pose Estimation in Light Fields From Best Subaperture Camera Pairs

2018

International audience; A light-field camera can obtain richer information about a scene than a usual camera. This property offers a lot of potential for robot vision. In this paper, we present a method for pose estimation of a planar object with a light-field camera. The light-field camera can be regarded as a set of sub-aperture cameras. Although any combination of them can theoretically be used for the pose estimation, the accuracy depends on the combination. We show that the estimated pose error can be reduced by selecting the best pair of sub-aperture cameras. We have evaluated the accuracy of our approach with real experiments using a light-field camera in front of planar targets held…

Convergence of Markovian Stochastic Approximation with discontinuous dynamics

2016

This paper is devoted to the convergence analysis of stochastic approximation algorithms of the form $\theta_{n+1} = \theta_n + \gamma_{n+1} H_{\theta_n}({X_{n+1}})$, where ${\left\{ {\theta}_n, n \in {\mathbb{N}} \right\}}$ is an ${\mathbb{R}}^d$-valued sequence, ${\left\{ {\gamma}_n, n \in {\mathbb{N}} \right\}}$ is a deterministic stepsize sequence, and ${\left\{ {X}_n, n \in {\mathbb{N}} \right\}}$ is a controlled Markov chain. We study the convergence under weak assumptions on smoothness-in-$\theta$ of the function $\theta \mapsto H_{\theta}({x})$. It is usually assumed that this function is continuous for any $x$; in this work, we relax this condition. Our results are illustrated by c…
