Agency in first-semester university students’ career plans

In this paper I examine expressions of agency in autobiographical narratives by Finnish speaking university students of Swedish. Students who write about themselves, their decisions and their career plans are simultaneously involved in (re)constructing their identities. The narratives often include references to “communities of practice” (Lave & Wenger 1991; Wenger 1998) that the students consider as significant, and whose membership they see as something worth dreaming of. These kinds of first-person stories can be regarded as important as far as identity formation is concerned (Sfard & Prusak 2005). Background: This is a descriptive study of children’s participation plans in early childhood education (ECE) settings in Finland. The study adopted a multidimensional approach to find out how practices of children’s participation were conceived in pedagogical plans made by ECE staff, representing a focus that is rare in the existing body of research. Delocalized variable plans pose problems for novice programmers trying to read and write programs. Variable-oriented programming is a programming paradigm that emphasizes the importance of variable-related plans, and localizes actions pertaining to each variable together in one place in the program code. This paper revisits the idea of variable-oriented programming and shows how it can be founded on roles of variables: stereotypes of variable use suitable for teaching to novices. In the year 1788, the parish of Los Santos Juanes in Valencia proposed to the City Council the erection of same classical-style portico in order to beautify its outer eastern façade, surrounding the head of the temple and relying on the Plaza del Mercado. This portico was never built, but there would be an impact of such an architectural purpose in subsequent reform plans of that outstanding urban location.

With reference to the functions attributed to municipalities and provinces, the Tuscany Region has maintained a central role of planning and coordination of activities in the tourism sector. Local authorities and the various territorial levels of the trade associations of undertakings and workers are also formally involved in the preparation of regional planning. For this purpose, some regions have set up consultation tables to involve all public and private stakeholders in the sector. The article delves into the modalities of tourism planning, highlighting the training process and the laws of reference.

The images of the bombing in Palermo in May 1943 are still etched in the collective memory. Some of the lacerations caused by the bombs are still clearly visible in the historic city centre, which has been the subject, since the post-war period, of numerous proposals that have remained in the drawer, images of an ethical and civil responsibility that has remained unheard. Old images of war and maps of ideas intersect in a history only apparently concluded in which they become generators of meaning and also bearers of messages relating to a desire for renewal.
