The article presents the position of “the Castle” on emigration (the President, government and the Council of the Republic of Poland) towards the events in Poland and the Eastern Bloc in 1956. The politicians and publicists of “the Castle”, observing some changes in the country, did not expect that they would lead to basic changes. The opinion prevailed that Poland was not an independent state and that the Soviet occupation still persisted. Propagating maximum demands (independence, restoration of the pre-war border in the east), they did not have much hope in an evolutionary course of changes. After WWII the Polish ocean liner “Batory” operated on the route Gdynia–New York, and from 1951 to India. The captain of the ship was Jan Ćwikliński. The Ministry for Public Security accused him of having a hostile attitude towards the People’s Republic of Poland and insisted on him being removed from his position as Batory captain. In the spring of 1953 the ship underwent a technical check-up at a shipyard in Great Britain. In the mean-time it was rumoured that the captain was to be arrested upon his return to Poland on suspicion of espionage. Zespół rdestnicy wydłużonej Potametum praelongi Sauer 1937 w rezerwacie Smolnik na Śląsku Opolskim

Na terenie rezerwatu przyrody Smolnik na Śląsku Opolskim fitocenozy zespołu rdestnicy wydłużonej Potametum praelongi zostały stwierdzone podczas badań geobotanicznych w 2015 r. – współrzędne geograficzne 50°83'97,62'' N, 18°24'59,79'' E. Dotychczas zespół ten nie był notowany na obszarze tego rezerwatu. W Polsce należy do bardzo rzadko notowanych zbiorowisk. W rezerwacie Smolnik płaty tego zespołu wykształciły się w wodzie o głębokości 150 – 200 cm, o pH 7,4. W większości z nich ma budowę dwuwarstwową, rzadziej jednowarstwową. Zespół ten zajmuje powierzchnie, sięgające maksymalnie 200 – 300 m2. Notowano w nich od 5 do 7, średnio 6 gatunków. Łącznie w jego fitocenozach zanotowano 8 gatunków …

CO2 emissions are a global problem. This means that nothing or very little will change if only particular countries are involved. The purpose of this paper is the attempt to show the real CO2 emissions of the Poland as well as the impact of its trade on CO2 emissions in other countries in the world and in the EU in 2015. This study was conducted on the group of countries that are the major emitters of CO2 in the world including most of the EU members. Actual CO2 emissions were achieved by applying the actual emission factor. A nationwide cross-sectional study, LIPIDOGRAM2015, was carried out in Poland in the years 2015 and 2016. A total of 438 primary care physicians enrolled 13,724 adult patients that sought medical care in primary health care practices. The prevalence of hypertension, diabetes mellitus, dyslipidaemia, and CVD were similar in urban and rural areas (49.5 vs. 49.4%; 13.7 vs. 13.1%; 84.2 vs. 85.2%; 14.4 vs. 14.2%, respectively). The prevalence of obesity (32.3 vs. 37.5%, p p p p = 0.04) and non-HDL-C (147 vs. 148 mg/dL, p = 0.03) were slightly higher in rural populations.
