The coupling of renewable energy and hydrogen technologies represents in the mid term a very interesting way to match the tasks of increasing the reliable exploitation of wind and sea wave energy introducing clean technologies in the transportation sector. A method for predicting the mean seasonal chlorophyll a concentration, the mean seasonal in vitro phytoplankton primary productivity per unit volume, the maximum daily production per unit volume and the seasonal integral production in brown-water lakes is presented. The production values can be calculated when the mean annual concentration of total phosphorus and the mean annual colour of the water are known. This method has been developed especially for practical water pollution studies to permit rapid and inexpensive estimates of major biological consequences of changes in effluent loads. Simulation of the operation of detention tanks.

The performance of detention tanks with different characteristics (volume, on-line and off-line arrangement) has been evaluated according to the results of a continuous simulation. The conceptual simplified model for sewer system simulation (COSMOSS) model has been used to simulate the operation of the tanks. The differences between the performance of on-line and off-line tanks and the influence of the characteristics of different catchments have been examined. Atmospheric pollution in Venice, Italy, as indicated by isotopic analyses

Rainwater samples collected in Venice over a period of about 1 yr were studied along with stone samples collected from buildings and monuments. Isotopic measurements of O, S, and C were carried out on rainwater, rainwater dissolved sulfate, carbonate in stone, and sulfate present in altered limestone, with the purpose of proving that atmospheric pollution is mainly responsible for the deterioration of monuments and buildings. The results obtained lead to the conclusion that, in spite of the geographic position of the city, atmospheric sulfate in Venice is basically tied to the emission of anthropogenic SO2 and that only minor contribution can be expected from seawater spray and aerosols. Abstract Physico-chemical variables of water quality and benthic community structure were assessed in order to evaluate the need for reinstating the use of the preliminary Jedlice Reservoir. The waters of the Mała Panew River carry a significant load of nutrient compounds, particularly nitrates and phosphates. Deteriorating water quality results in permanent algal blooms and changes in the macrofauna structure. It was confirmed that the use of a preliminary reservoir could contribute to the protection of the Turawa Dam Reservoir against pollutants transported by the waters of the Mała Panew River.

The present study describes long term PM10 and PM2.5 changes in typical street canyon with particular emphasis on seasonal, diurnal variations in context with meteorological data.
