Spectroscopic factor and proton formation probability for the d3/2 proton emitter 151Lu

2017

The quenching of the experimental spectroscopic factor for proton emission from the short-lived $d_{3/2}$ isomeric state in $^{151m}$Lu was a long-standing problem. In the present work, proton emission from this isomer has been reinvestigated in an experiment at the Accelerator Laboratory of the University of Jyv\"{a}skyl\"{a}. The proton-decay energy and half-life of this isomer were measured to be 1295(5) keV and 15.4(8) $\mu$s, respectively, in agreement with another recent study. These new experimental data can resolve the discrepancy in the spectroscopic factor calculated using the spherical WKB approximation. Psychological bias towards, or away from, prior measurements or theory predictions is an intrinsic threat to any data analysis. While various methods can be used to try to avoid such a bias, e.g. actively avoiding looking at the result, only data blinding is a traceable and trustworthy method that can circumvent the bias and convince a public audience that there is not even an accidental psychological bias. Macroinvertebrate biomonitoring is particularly efficient in pinpointing the cause-effect structure between slow and subtle changes and their detrimental consequences in aquatic ecosystems. Abstract Accurate identification of factors associated with progression of colorectal cancer remains a challenge. In particular, it is unclear which statistical methods are most suitable to separate the effects of putative prognostic factors on cancer progression vs cancer-specific and other cause mortality. To address these challenges, we analyzed 10 year follow-up data for patients who underwent curative surgery for colorectal cancer in 1985–2000. An Ordinal Joint Model for Breast Cancer

We propose a Bayesian joint model to analyze the association between longitudinal measurements of an ordinal marker and time to a relevant event. The longitudinal process is defined in terms of a proportional-odds cumulative logit model and the time-to-event process through a left-truncated Cox proportional hazards model with information of the longitudinal marker and baseline covariates. Both longitudinal and survival processes are connected by a common vector of random effects.

Galerkin Scheme-Based Determination of Survival Probability of Oscillators With Fractional Derivative Elements

In this paper, an approximate semi-analytical approach is developed for determining the first-passage probability of randomly excited linear and lightly nonlinear oscillators endowed with fractional derivative elements. The amplitude of the system response is modeled as one-dimensional Markovian process by employing a combination of the stochastic averaging and the statistical linearization techniques. This leads to a backward Kolmogorov equation which governs the evolution of the survival probability of the oscillator. A fast algorithm for muon track reconstruction and its application to the ANTARES neutrino telescope.

An algorithm is presented, that provides a fast and robust reconstruction of neutrino induced upward-going muons and a discrimination of these events from downward-going atmospheric muon background in data collected by the ANTARES neutrino telescope. The algorithm consists of a hit merging and hit selection procedure followed by fitting steps for a track hypothesis and a point-like light source. It is particularly well-suited for real time applications such as online monitoring and fast triggering of optical follow-up observations for multi-messenger studies. Discriminating among competing statistical models is a pressing issue for many experimentalists in the field of cognitive science. Resolving this issue begins with designing maximally informative experiments. To this end, the problem to be solved in adaptive design optimization is identifying experimental designs under which one can infer the underlying model in the fewest possible steps.
