Interactive Nonlinear Multiobjective Optimization Methods

2016

An overview of interactive methods for solving nonlinear multiobjective optimization problems is given. In interactive methods, the decision maker progressively provides preference information so that the most satisfactory Pareto optimal solution can be found for her or his. The basic features of several methods are introduced and some theoretical results are provided. In addition, references to modifications and applications as well as to other methods are indicated. As the role of the decision maker is very important in interactive methods, methods presented are classified according to the type of preference information that the decision maker is assumed to provide. peerReviewed

A New Hybrid Mutation Operator for Multiobjective Optimization with Differential Evolution

2011

Differential evolution has become one of the most widely used evolution- ary algorithms in multiobjective optimization. Its linear mutation operator is a sim- ple and powerful mechanism to generate trial vectors. However, the performance of the mutation operator can be improved by including a nonlinear part. In this pa- per, we propose a new hybrid mutation operator consisting of a polynomial based operator with nonlinear curve tracking capabilities and the differential evolution’s original mutation operator, to be efficiently able to handle various interdependencies between decision variables. The resulting hybrid operator is straightforward to implement and can be used within most evoluti…

DEVELOPMENT OF A HOME-BASED TRAINING PROGRAM FOR PATIENTS WITH PARKINSON DISEASE: NEUROBIOLOGICAL AND MOTOR SKILLS EFFECT

2022

Neurodegenerative diseases are inherited diseases of the central nervous system, which cause progressive damage to specific populations of neurons and lead to a deterioration in the quality of life (1,2). Parkinson disease (PD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease and is the second most common after AD, and is characterized by postural instability, tremor and rigidity. Moreover, physical activity can reduces risk of other geriatric diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, osteoporosis and cardiovascular disease, which may also contribute to PD pathogenesis (3). We enrolled 12 subjects (age: 62.74 ± 4.94; height: 175,5cm ± 7,41 cm; weight: 75,5 ± 17,95 kg) affected by PD. An home-based…

The participation in multicultural societies. Elaboration and evaluation of a program of active participation

2008

The article begins with the theoretical bases for developing a training programme to foment the exercise of an active participation. The designed program is applied in a group of women with different cultural backgrounds that live in the city of L'Hospitalet and it is evaluated following the methodological characteristics of an investigation evaluation of participatory character. From the collection and analysis of the information, we present the results obtained that turn around the investigation objectives: the validation of the program design, the investigation on the exercise of active participation, the formation of the work team and the creation of a meeting point for women.

VBFNLO: A parton level Monte Carlo for processes with electroweak bosons

2009

VBFNLO is a fully flexible parton level Monte Carlo program for the simulation of vector boson fusion, double and triple vector boson production in hadronic collisions at next-to-leading order in the strong Coupling constant. VBFNLO includes Higgs and vector boson decays with full spin correlations and all off-shell effects. In addition, VBFNLO implements CP-even and CP-odd Higgs boson via gluon fusion, associated with two jets, at the leading-order one-loop level with the full top- and bottom-quark mass dependence in a generic two-Higgs-doublet model. A variety of effects arising from beyond the Standard Model physics are implemented for selected processes. This includes anomalous coupling…

Measurement of the ZZ cross-section in e(+)e(-) interactions at 183-189 GeV

2001

Measurements of on-shell ZZ production are described, using data collected by DELPHI in 1997 and 1998, at centre-of-mass energies sqrt(s) = 182.6 GeV and 188.6 GeV respectively. Results obtained in each of the final states q qbar q qbar, mu+mu- q qbar, e+e- q qbar, nu nubar q qbar, l+l-l+l-, and nu nubar l+l- are presented. The measured cross-sections for on-shell ZZ production via the tree-level doubly-resonant graphs (NC02) are: sigma_{NC02}(182.6 GeV) = 0.38 +- 0.18 (stat) +- 0.04 (syst) pb, sigma_{NC02}(188.6 GeV) = 0.60 +- 0.13 (stat) +- 0.07 (syst) pb. They are consistent with the Standard Model expectations of 0.25 pb and 0.65 pb at each energy.

LeptonInjector and LeptonWeighter: A neutrino event generator and weighter for neutrino observatories

2021

We present a high-energy neutrino event generator, called LeptonInjector, alongside an event weighter, called LeptonWeighter. Both are designed for large-volume Cherenkov neutrino telescopes such as IceCube. The neutrino event generator allows for quick and flexible simulation of neutrino events within and around the detector volume, and implements the leading Standard Model neutrino interaction processes relevant for neutrino observatories: neutrino-nucleon deep-inelastic scattering and neutrino-electron annihilation. In this paper, we discuss the event generation algorithm, the weighting algorithm, and the main functions of the publicly available code, with examples.

The International Linear Collider Project—Its Physics and Status

2021

The discovery of Higgs particle has ushered in a new era of particle physics. Even though the list of members of the standard theory of particle physics is now complete, the shortcomings of the theory became ever more acute. It is generally considered that the best solution to the problems is an electron–positron collider that can study Higgs particle with high precision and high sensitivity; namely, a Higgs factory. Among a few candidates for Higgs factory, the International Linear Collider (ILC) is currently the most advanced in its program. In this article, we review the physics and the project status of the ILC including its energy expandability.

Secure integration of multiprotocol instant messenger

2017

Pidgin communicator is a multiprotocol instant messenger client, developed by open source community. It was originally a third party client of AIM (AOL Instant Messenger) protocol for Linux operating system founded in 1998. At present, its main goal is to provide common interface for every protocol it supports, so the user does not need care about protocol to use or peer's IM identifier, while he just want to talk with a Bob. The work focuses mainly on security and functionality aspects like password storage strategies, integration with plugins which provide privacy of communication. This paper shares experiences has been gained during the process of developing and replacement of existing c…

Bagging, bumping, multiview, and active learning for record linkage with empirical results on patient identity data

2011

Record linkage or deduplication deals with the detection and deletion of duplicates in and across files. For this task, this paper introduces and evaluates two new machine-learning methods (bumping and multiview) together with bagging, a tree-based ensemble-approach. Whereas bumping represents a tree-based approach as well, multiview is based on the combination of different methods and the semi-supervised learning principle. After providing a theoretical background of the methods, initial empirical results on patient identity data are given. In the empirical evaluation, we calibrate the methods on three different kinds of training data. The results show that the smallest training data set, …
