Fuzzy Metric Approach to Aggregation of Risk Levels

2019

In this paper we propose a special construction of a general aggregation operator. The construction allows to aggregate fuzzy sets taking into account the distance between elements of the universe. We consider the case when fuzzy sets to be aggregated represent the risk level evaluation by several experts. We describe how the proposed construction could be applied for risk level assessment in the case when a strong fuzzy metric is used to characterize the similarity of objects under evaluation.

Stochastic debt sustainability analysis for sovereigns and the scope for optimization modeling

2017

We express the opinion that sovereign debt sustainability analysis must be augmented by stochastic correlated risk factors and a risk measure to capture tail effects. Crisis situations can thus be adequately specified and analyzed with sufficient accuracy to warrant the relevance of policy decisions. In this context there is significant scope for optimization modeling for both strategic planning and operational management. We discuss diverse aspects of the problem of debt sustainability and highlight modeling approaches that can be brought to bear on the problem. Results with the fictitiuous, but nor unrealistic, Kingdom of Atlantis, which is sinking under excessive debt, illustrate the pro…

Evaluación de la disminución del riesgo de recaida en los programas de intervención con maltratadores: indicador clave en la evaluación de la eficaci…

2014

The evidence available on the efficacy of batterer intervention programs is still limited. The aim of the present study is twofold: (1) to analyze change in a set of intervention targets and their association with reconviction in a batterer intervention program implemented in Spain, and (2) to analyze pre-treatment participants' characteristics linked with an increased likelihood of change. The research design was a prospective longitudinal study with measures obtained in two points in time (pre-treatment and post-treatment). Self-report measures, trained program staff assessment, and reconviction official records were used. Participants consisted of 212 offenders participating in a court-m…

Determining the appropriate timing of the next forest inventory: incorporating forest owner risk preferences and the uncertainty of forest data quali…

2017

Key message The timing to conduct new forest inventories should be based on the requirements of the decision maker. Importance should be placed on the objectives of the decision maker and his/her risk preferences related to those objectives. Context The appropriate use of pertinent and available information is paramount in any decision-making process. Within forestry, a new forest inventory is typically conducted prior to creating a forest management plan. The acquisition of new forest inventory data is justified by the simple statement of “good decisions require good data.” Aims By integrating potential risk preferences, we examine the specific needs to collect new forest information. Meth…

Validation of the French national health insurance information system as a tool in vaccine safety assessment: Application to febrile convulsions afte…

2013

In the French national health insurance information system (SNIIR-AM), routine records of health claimed reimbursements are linked to hospital admissions for the whole French population. The main focus of this work is the usability of this system for vaccine safety assessment programme. Self-controlled case series analyses were performed using an exhaustive SNIIR-AM extraction of French children aged less than 3 years, to investigate the relationship between MMR immunization and children hospitalizations for febrile convulsions, a well-documented rare adverse event, over 2009-2010. The results suggest a significant increase of febrile convulsions during the 6-11 days period following any MM…

A Novel Fault-Tolerant Routing Technique for Mesh-of-Tree based Network-on-Chip Design

2018

Due to the increase in the number of processing elements in System-on-Chips (SoCs), communication between the cores is becoming complex. A solution to this issue in SoCs gave rise to a new paradigm called Network-on-Chips (NoCs). In NoCs, communication between different cores is achieved using packet based switching techniques. In the deep sub-micron technology, NoCs are more susceptible to different kinds of faults which can be transient, intermittent and permanent. These faults can occur at any component of NoCs. This paper presents a novel Fault-Tolerant Routing (FTR) technique for Mesh-of-Tree (MoT) topology in the presence of router faults. The proposed technique is compared with routi…

Flexible Spare Core Placement in Torus Topology based NoCs and its validation on an FPGA

2021

In the nano-scale era, Network-on-Chip (NoC) interconnection paradigm has gained importance to abide by the communication challenges in Chip Multi-Processors (CMPs). With increased integration density on CMPs, NoC components namely cores, routers, and links are susceptible to failures. Therefore, to improve system reliability, there is a need for efficient fault-tolerant techniques that mitigate permanent faults in NoC based CMPs. There exists several fault-tolerant techniques that address the permanent faults in application cores while placing the spare cores onto NoC topologies. However, these techniques are limited to Mesh topology based NoCs. There are few approaches that have realized …

Design and Implementation of ForCES Protocol

2017

This paper proposes the design and implementation of the ForCES protocol, specifically FP logical point of the ForCES architecture, which is strictly the communication between the CE (Control Element) and the FE (Forwarding Element). It is a flexible and reprogrammable architecture that is established within the specifications issued and defined by the ForCES working group, and consists of elaboration of a protocol that carries information between both elements. In order to comprobate the correct functioning of the implemented the ForCES protocol, is we provide a network testbed scenario, which consist an application client-server. Each device has equipped with the application which based o…

Adaptive live video streaming on low-cost wireless multihop networks for road traffic surveillance in smart cities

2021

Abstract Traffic surveillance is an important issue for Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) that helps detect incidents automatically, such as wrong-way drivers, still-standing vehicles and jams. Sometimes these systems require a fast and short-term deployment of video cameras. In these cases, ad-hoc networks could be a low-cost and feasible option, but they have poor performance for video delivery. Thus, we propose a smart live video adaptive streaming technique in order to transport video streams from the cameras to the external road traffic monitoring servers. To achieve this goal, these networks need a thorough study in order to analyze video quality under their inherent constraint…
